I wanted to know if you guys think I can grow mother plants under a set of T-5 flourecents on 18/6, or if I should run 24 hours, or if it will even work at all?

Suggestions would be great.

I use my 2 foot T-5 full spectrum 8k lumen in vegg and flower, in addition to 250hps flowering. It should work fine. What bulbs you running?

I havent actually botten the T-5 yet, any suggestions on what to get, i am planning on keeping mothers for about a month or two and then re starting new ones, is there any truth that when you keep taking cuttings the plants loose potency?

i think it jus depends where u take the cuttings from...the ones at the bottom of the plant will be a lot weaker than the ones at the top

What i've found is that when i take cuttings of my mums the first set and the second root really quickly thereafter they seem to struggle a bit so i just grow a clone into a mum after taking two sets of clones of a plant ...i also keep to mums and clones under a 200 watt cfl with out any problems at all ...happy growing.....

i have a 200 watt cfl. (not 200 watt equivalent) that works great for a mother plant or 2. i also have a 4 foot 6 bulb t-5 lamp that works fucking great for any kind of veg application. either t-5 or cfl would work. only use hps for flower! cfl's will not get the job done.

Almost everyone keeps their mothers under fluorescents. Definitely go 24/0 during the growing phase, then if you want, back off to 18/6 (to save electricity) once they are big enough to start taking multiple 6-8" cuttings from them. I like running 24/0 permanently on moms because it makes it easier to regulate temps/conditions. I really like the pioneer IV T5 fluorescents made by Sunleaves. You can find them online for $100-$150.

And, there is NO truth that when you take cuttings from a plant they lose potency. If anything, it is suspected that the strain becomes stronger with each new generation.

The clones taken from the LOWER 1/3 of the plant have the newest hormones and are easiest to root. I always take cuttings from the bottom first.

When you clone a person, it's an exact reproduction of the original person. What's different about a plant? It's a CLONE, EXACT same DNA.
