Have you ever been caught?

Basically I am a newbie wanting to grow. I am in the researching phase and have most things down pat ( cost, equipment). My only real concern is the legal ramifications. So my question's pertain to the veteran growers, the Yoda's and Obi wan's of the marijuana council.

1. Have you ever been caught?

2. How long have you been growing?

3. Do you grow for your own recreational use or other...or both?

This is basically to gauge what I am in for in terms of legality and my chances of getting caught. Responses are much appreciated.

I have been growing for about five years straight, never had any problems. I have gotten a few possession tickets over that period but they never had anything to do with the grow.

Asking people their experiences really isnt going to help you very much because the laws very soo much between states and countries. You have to research your local laws and look up busts in your area, find out what kind of charges people are getting for the size of grow your planning.

Yeah, but I kinda have cold feet, If I see that not a lot people get caught, kinda give me that push I need, that false security in my head that I think you need do something that jeopardizes your freedom.

Not a lot of people around here get busted, but it happens to the best growers.

Like I said before, it depends on where you live and your local laws. Where I live, if I get caught growing I would go to jail for like an hour, get a court date and be out. I would go to court and I might get a fine. I am in Canada though.

If your unsure dont do it. If your are sure, make sure you do it right the first time and you will be fine.

Although I'm only on my second grow, excluding two failed attempts awhile back, I'd think It depends on if this a personal grow or a commercial grow?

It has been said over and over again but it's nearly impossible to get caught if it's for personal use and you tell absolutely no one and use some common sense.

If it's a commercial grow getting caught is a realistic business risk because you're forced to at least share your business with someone else. (Read: Distributor)

I also live in Canada, without getting into specifics, southern Ontario. Really? Only an hour in jail? Is that from experience or a story from a friend? I am curious because I would think Americas influence, in addition to a conservative government would make harder for a grower to do what do. Not to mention the bill C-P3(something I can remember) that is in it's second reading, proposing to make drug laws tougher in Canada.

Yeah, I can see that. Unless you intend to only sell to your friends and even then you are still not fully protected, and it is not really an efficient way of getting your product out.

BC is slack. You wouldnt even go to jail, Chances are they will take you in ask you some questions, process you and give you a court date then let you go. It might take a few hours if they are busy. It also depends on your record. If you have a long records of violence or trafficing then they might want to charge you with trafficing or funding gangs and all that crap.

They are big on gangs and violence and hard drugs. If your a small time grower just growing chronic weed and theres no guns in the house and no ties to gangs then you wont have a problem. They might even just give you a court date right there if its just a small grow.

Im lucky, I have a spotless clean record, Im actually getting my restricted firearms license to I can buy pistols. I am not a gangster or anything like that though, theres a reason I have a clean record, Im not a violent person. I dont do or sell hard drugs. I just grow Chronic herb.

I'd consider friends to be the 2nd most riskiest people to know about your grow. The 1st would be an ex lover. Nearly every post on here regarding getting busted involves either a friend who got jealous or an ugly breakup. As the saying goes "hell hath no fury like a women scorned."

my house got broken in to... cops got there before me... i got arrested... luckly roommate got rid of my plants before they did. so i got a paraphinalia charge. nobody robbing me knew i was growing -- they were just robbing my house. did a day of community service and its now off my record.

Paraphernalia charges are a Fucking Joke. One time I was sitting in my apartment smoking weed. My drunk roommate walks in with a cop. I start grabbing bags of weed and stuffing them in couch cushions, we had a shelf of bongs, weed everywhere, weed posters, and I was smoking for hours. The cop sits down, turns the other way, and starts talking to my roommate.

My roommate was so drunk that she called the cops for some stupid reason.

Long story short, the cop thanked me for being so polite and left. Man I was so baked, the cop didnt even say a word about weed. And it was Literally Everywhere, i had an ounce on the table.
