In the first example... the news cast.... power is only used to turn a small dc motor, the dc motor then turns an induction motor by the shaft, producing voltage through the windings converting it to an ac sine wave. The second one with just magnets turns by magnet attraction and repultion. By closing the outer part and moving it closer to the magnets in the rotor it begins to spin. The rpm of the unit builds up speed and maintains it through magnetic induction. Free power.
