DWC on a smaller scale. All ya need is an air pump, tubing, air stone, 3" basket and empty can of coffe(or whatever else). Make sure the can is extremly clean. Total setup cost under 20

I just use a basic propagation tray with clone dome, Rapid Rooter plugs, and cloning gel. Total cost around $20.

If you go to a hydro shop and buy two dollars worth of peat pellets, some rooting compound, and WILT SPRAY that's all you need.

You don't need anything fancy or even a humidity dome if you use wilt spray and keep the temperature in the 80's.

Anyway there are 1000 different methods. Just depends on what you feel most comfortable with. I'm just saying you don't need any kind of fancy setup or aerocloner.

anyone know how to,or can tell me if its possible to make a cheap propagator or similar device for cloning?
1) dome - $4.00
2) tray - $2.00
3) insert - $2.00
4) bag of 50 rapid rooters - $12.00
5) small bottle of clonex - $13.00

put that sucker on a warm surface or heating pad, put a cfl over it, and see roots in a week.

if you want to pick up a heating pad, hydrofarm makes them and i've seen them for something like $20 bucks...

there are also kits (without the rapid rooters or clonex) for about $30.00 that come with: heat pad, tray, insert, and dome. all you need to buy is clonex and rapid rooters... and i've rooted clones with just rapid rooters by themselves (though it did take a little bit longer).

filled the tray up with a 1/2" of water, dropped the insert and rapid rooters/clones in... disappeared for a week and came back to roots. of course, after a week of not seeing them they did dry out a little bit, which is fine, they moisten up very easily with a spray bottle if you want to spray them down. no 'anti wilt' products needed...

yea the diy section has some decent clone to transplant machines. its very easy, the whole concept of bubble cloners is that it has a tray of water under a rack of clones, the misting from the bubbles made by an airstone make the clones root. it explains it all in the diy or just look it up theres loads of info everywere.

whats your success rate with that? ;)

It's been a while since i used that method, as it seems to take longer, and requires regular changes of water, but success rate was 100%. However, this was based on just a few (like 10 or so) clones.

If you want to be ultra-cheap, you can clone in nothing more than a cup of water.
I couldn't get the clonex/rockwool to work on my first 8 clones so I was told by someone here to just drop them into water and make sure the lights on for at least 18 hours a day...

...Tried 2 more clones - one died after a week whilst the other seemed to be starting some root nubs...

2 weeks after cutting it was in the pot with some first roots, 2 weeks later theres a root sticking out of the bottom of the pot...think it's made it! :hump:

(oh yeah - I'm only on my 2nd grow...)

most common problem with cloning with rockwool is soaking the cubes.
