Big shock, I agree with Vi!
The truly FREE market would provide the optimum solution to current difficulties in providing peace of mind to millions of Americans who are exposed to catastrophic health care costs.
The problem with the current system is Government meddling.....there needs to be more competition and more choice....
Our system will never be perfect, but a true free market is a step in the right direction....IMO!

Because you have to see Health Care as nothing less than a commodity, a package of goods and services interlinked, if you will.
IMO, with a truly free market, you would see far more companies enter the marketplace, with additional choices, prices would decline to a realistic level reflecting more accurately supply and demand...an equilibrium would be established....I sincerely think this is much more likely to afford more Americans the peace of mind provided by comprehensive health coverage in place for their families. Free competition almost always provides lower costs to consumers



BTW, raising prices is not always the best or only way to increase earnings per share.

Just like in other venues ... the consumer rules. If one market has celery at 1.00 per bunch and another market has celery at .50 per bunch, which market will sell the most bunches of celery? The answer is obvious. And the market selling at 1.00 per bunch will have to lower the price of celery in order to compete.

I had to have a spinal surgery a number of years ago. I did have medical insurance, but because of a "preexisting condition," the insurance company denied my claim. I took my doctor's advice and used the fact that our community had two hospitals at the time, and bargained back and forth between each hospital for the best repayment schedule. I finally got one hospital to accept $1000.00 as a deposit and a six month term to complete payment. The surgeon agreed to the six month deal as well. I had the surgeon paid in full at the end of the six month period, but only had the hospital half paid. I called the hospital and they agreed to extend the payments another six months. It took a year for the hospital to be paid in full, but I met my committments.

In your opinion, Med ... should someone living in Alabama or Tennesee have paid for my medical needs?

Why thats a tearful story. If they had universal health care, as in Most all civilized countries, except ours, You wouldn't have had to worry who paid the bill, you would have been worry free to recover without the burden of paying the huge medical bills! Just because you had the type of gainful employment that allowed you to pay, does not mean that everyone does. What if you worked for minimum wage, had three kids and a house payment that took 2-1/2 paychecks, a wife that couldn't work because of the cost of child care, etc. etc. Can you see that person being able to get the operation to begin with, and if he did, how in the hell could he ever pay it back! You live in a bubble. Come out to the real world, where people work for peanuts and are burdened with huge debt, then throw a 30,000 operation into the mix and expect them to pay. You are hopeless

Most Americans have ready access to emergency medical care....even people here illegally have no difficulty in obtaining care? Very few people are dying in the streets.
The crux of this whole issue is the insurance side of the problem and the health care side being lumped together,…… when they are, in actuality, two separate issues!
Sadly it is all too common for the media to confuse health insurance and health care. As a result, the public is also confused. Why is this important? Because by this means the media create misunderstanding of very real problems. Without clear understanding of the problems, we are prone to manipulation by agenda-driven special interests. We can be certain that "solutions" pushed at us by special interests suit their objectives. But how can anyone be certain that these "solutions" address real problems, when the real problems remain confused and ill-defined?

Lower the cost of insurance by introducing more competition and minimize governmental regulations and bureaucracies which add costs. The government has rigged the market in favor of a relatively small number of companies...bahhh!
With the cost of insurance lower more people in total will purchase the health care product side, thereby reducing that cost as well!

Do you work for an insurance company? The problem is the insurance industry. They are in medicine for profit! that translates to less care for more money. To privatize ones health care is to rely upon the conflict between Greed and care. Which one do you think wins out? Even if you don't like National health care, can't you see the greed inherent in private care. My doctor of ten years has just thrown me and my wife out his practise for greed. He is starting a private practice that will cost each patient 3,000 per year to belong + all insurance proceedings he can collect. This a man I held in high esteem for ten years. The main reason I believe he is doing this is the squeeze put on him by the insurance industry. They are the real criminals in this society! Those and the real estate agents, LOL!

I agree with you that the REAL big problem is insurance. It is a paperwork maze, as you probably know.

I certainly agree on the douch bag Thing. We used to have conversations like good buddies, talk politics and everything. I was certainly surprised and dissapointed as I had figured him my doctor for life! Also Malpractice has it's place if you are harmed by a physician or hospital, but there are certainly some unscrupulous attorneys and Victims whom push the limits!
