Fan Heat?

I think he is trying to make a cheap version of a squirrel cage fan?

If the fan is pulling cool air it shouldn't overheat. If the fan is simply sitting in a box with no in or out vent, then yes it will overheat.

I really hate to say this but why would someone put a vent fan in a box with no in or out air flow? I want to insulate the sound but I guess that was not clear to you guys... It is a duct fan for ventilation.... These fans can be loud I have heard and I want quiet... Don't reply if you don't know. I think we could save lots of our energy on here if the people that reply don't when they don't have an answer.....

How about a little more info when you start your posts. When people have to guess what your talking about, how are you going to expect a solid answer.

If you place an 8'' fan in a box and insulated the inside around the fan will the fan over heat???
For instance. What type of fan? Why put it in a box? Why insulate it? What are you trying to achieve?

More info..

Also couldn't you have put this in your other fan post that is just below this one? Talk about wasting peoples time.

Well I would but just try and find a thread when your posts don't pull up as they are supposed to under your name. I thought i was clear but I see where you got your question. The "inline" fan will be 8'' variety with duct to vent out and duct to the carbon filter. The fan itself i want to put inside a box with the two ducts running in and out the middle of the box sides. The ducts connect to the fan and the fan in the box has insulation all around it inside the box with just the ducts coming and going from the outside of the box... I hope that makes more sense.....
