Anyone tried acoustic ducting and silencer with their FANs?!

My fan seems to be noisy. Part of the problem is the air moving but the fan itself makes a bit of noise too. On the cover it says the noise level is 46dB? is that loud? It is a 6" fan and the noise is the only probme i have and i don't wana invest in garbage anymore coz the acoustic ducting and silencers are quite pricey :(

We built a Concert Theater, and all the duct work was insulated.
I had thought it was to keep in the heat, but it was for sound.
My suggestion is to insulate your duct work. theres double sided foil
like at Menards, it's pretty cheap stuff. You could make some sorta of
insulated Box for your fan. That would help with the fan making alot of noise.
I think theres a sound supression thread on controlling sound too.

Is insulated ducting the same as acoustic ducting. I think it is isn't it?
The thread about fan noise is good but it's not something i can make unfortunately coz i'm short on resources. My mum would ask me what i'm doing with all that wood and stuff :( This hydroponics shop sells a silencer and acoustic ducting and that's the only choice i have really

IME ducting sold as acoustic is insulated by dense fiberglass impregnated foam as opposed to fiberglass wool. Ample noise reduction for most grows is achieved by using either.
