so the other night i made some canna butter from trim and some small bud.
i used about a half O per stick of butter and the results were amazing.
think of it like this normally you would throw trim and bmall buds away and they would be composted. because we all grow use them and make some bomb-ass butter that is a smoth high almost devoid of paranoia.
ok for my first step i went out i purchased the highest fat butter i could find. in this case it was land o lakes. however if there is a spectialy dairy store in your area go there and try getting a higher fat butter that is custom made.
next get you favorite cookie or pastry mix via you local store. i find that the cookie mix that calls for 1 egg and 1 stick of butter to work best.
items you will need
1) crock-pot
2)butter highest % fat
3)skimmer
4)grinder of sorts
5)bowls
6) important (if no crock pot devote 6-7 hours of time)
7) 1/2 O of finest trim (could be done with a quarter of bud)
some way of wacthing the temp
BUTTER STEPS
1) bring 4 cups of water to boil after which add a stick and 1/4 to the boiling water.
2)after the butter has totally melted take the hot water and add to the crock pot.
3)after you add the hot butter water to the crock pot it should look a yellowish cream color whch is normal
4)now to start off turn your crock pot the high to begin and swoly add your ground-up bud to the buttery mix.
5)now that the bud has been added your buttery mix should take on a greenish tint which is good.
6)IMPORTANT thc vaporisies at a temp of 200C and butter vaps at about 100C. THIS IS THE NUMBER 1 REASOON WHY PEOPLE FAIL AT MAKING CANNABIS BUTTER BECAUSE THE REAGENTS VAPORIZE THUS MAKING THE REACTION USELESS. there for always keep a way of montering the temp close at hand.
7) now that you have added the bud and trim to the mix turn the setting on the crock pot to low and go enjoy your day. when i first made this i stayed close to make sure the temps stayed consistant. if you put it on low you will be fine and the temp will not reach vap point.
stir as much or as little as ur want and make sure the temps dont go over vap point.
9) let sit for 6-8 hours and about 3/4 of the way through add an 1/8 of a stick of butter and a cup of water to the mix.
10) as you approch the end the mix should take on a black color thus indicating that the corphyll has broken down and the thc has sucuesfully binded to the fat of the butter.
STRAINING
1) now you should have a blackish gooy mix of water a butter. the eaiest way i find to do this next part is get a small strainer(easily gotten at a kitchen store) and strain all the plant matter out of the waterery-butter mix. (this trim can no longer get you high throw it out)
2)now you have a greenish looking butter however the butter still has water mixed with it and we dont want that.
3)take the mix and place into fridge so that butter will seperate from the water. thsi will take abit 45mins-2hours don not rush this. it is imperative that the seperation happend 100%
4)get a spoon and take the butter of the top layer and put into a bowl and put in the fridge until you wish to use it.
this is just like regular butter and can be added to what ever called for butter. hell you could even put it on toast and get a strong buzz.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
cannabis butter is no joke. it is very strong and should be respected. unlike smoked weed you can eat to much of it and have pannic atacks and thats not fun.
so after you have eaten your food made from cannabis have a little bit and if you feel ok after 1 hour have more. wacth your doses and have fun.
