This guy seems like he knows what he's talking about, I think he's full of shit. He's not even measuring lumens in his tests, he's measuring lux. All of his math is based on *his own* scientific deductions, not any real science. I mean, I know that having two identical lights in a given area will give you roughly twice as much usable light, duh. I assert, however, that no matter how many 42 watt bulbs you use, you will never reach a light intensity over a single 42 watt bulbs lumen rating. Simply put, with one 42 watt you have roughly 2800 lumens, just in a very small area surrounding the bulb. With ten 42 watt bulbs, you still only have a light intensity of 2800 lumens, but now you have much better coverage, as in you have 2800 lumens covering a larger area. With a 150 watt hps you have an initial lumen rating of 16000 lumens, much higher than any lumen rating you can acheive with any number of 42 watt cfls. Not only does this seem to make more sense than that guys thread, its backed up by results. To this date, I have never seen anyone, no matter how many low wattage cfls they use, grow buds that compare to the buds grown by an hps with equivalent power consumption. Never ever. Thats my two cents, could be wrong though just putting it out there.

I use cfl's myself, I wasn't saying floro's suck or anything, I am just humble enough to admit if I had an HID my bud would be better. Actually I'm planning on purchasing a system soon...

n had some good seeds from nirvana and was using paper plates as reflectors haha even tho for the last 3 weeks of flowering it went semi-unattended n the light schedule was all fukd up it went from lights on during the night to light on during the day then bak to light on during the night, n the temperature in the lil closet was hitting over 100F but stood at a good 93F+ even during the nights and i STILL had a decent harvest 4th step damn u guys followed me all the way thru n i had more control over this one better nutes more lights n better everything, now its on to my 5th step an other upgrade to better buds n a better understanding of how marijuana works... i dnt know when ill reach the top but when i do i will know

theres people that have been growing for ten years and are still learning new things about the whole thing every single time they plant new girls man. Becoming a master grower takes time sure, but even once that happens and you move on to breeding, youll still be climbin step by step man, thats what makes this shit so much fun. If there was a cieling to how much we can learn from our plants, then after doin it for so many years it would stop being so interesting, and thats just not the case man, people have been growin for 20+ years and are still on here reporting new shit theyve found out about their plants and their own personal skill as growers. Just like you man, i cant wait to get there either personally
