So I'm gonna put the grow space together myself and I don't know if 40" height is tall enough for 4 plant(northern lights) I was thinking of flowering when they get to about 14" tall. Any comments or suggestions are really welcome...

1 150w HPS
2 small CFL(the house screw-on type)
Soil(suggestions)
Nutrients(advanced nutrients(although I have no clue(yet) what kind and when))
White glossy paint

Space available ( 40" height, 38" wide, 20" deep)

Thanks in advance( great entertainment only website)

PS I NEVER DO WHAT I SAY OR WRITE ON THIS SITE

You seem to have it together! You should look into getting soilless mix. Its cheap and it works well!

If you are going to veg until they are 14 inches you are going to need either an mh or more cfl's(daylight) because 2 wont be nearly enough for that many plants and all the hps is going to do is make them stretch. I dont think your going to have enough height to start flowering at 14 inches anyway once you factor in the the pots and light you lose atleast a foot. Now if it's 40 inches of pure grow space you should be fine.

I agree that 2-3 plants should be fine. Usually you want about 50watts per square foot, but the cfl's on the sides it will help w/ light penetration.

For the walls, mylar would be better, but if you are going to paint, a matte/flat is best because it distributes the light evenly where as glossy paints tend to create hot spots like a mirror would.

Hope this helps

Very Cool, I will def scale down the plants and maybe start Flower at 8-10 inches. Maybe even get 4 CFL and 400W HPS with mylar.

As far as the nutes go I gotta really do my homework because theres is just to many dif types for different things and different timing. I will post a question on another category.

Thanks Dudes...
