Agreed and agreed. I thought he was asking if he couldnt get the bigger stones if it would be ok to use the smaller ones. id say definetely and its always better to go with 2 different pumps and sets of stones in one res in case one dies on u.U always have the backup supplying air as well as yes the more air the better all the way no matter how u get there.

What strains are you growing? And why not start with smaller pots in a your grown and veg so that you can transplant into the larger pots when the babies grow older? I think that you could have a killer sog going with a few different adjustments, however i don't want to mess with a good thing. And speaking of good things....keep those good things growing. AS far as the split of the hoses, the more pressure you have going into the stones the better you will end up being, yes more o2 into the water is better, but if your going to jump down into the smaller stones and split your line, you may want to invest in a higher pressure air pump. This is just to make sure you have adequate air going thought you multiple lines.
Good questions sir....
First, I plan on doing 3 tubs in perpetual flower motion.3 plants per pot.6 pots per tub.
The reason IM not doing the smaller pots in this system is because they are not sufficient for this system. In my sog im going directly from clone to flower. Having one clone tub set at all times. Its going to be much easier to just rotate the lids on the tubs then transplant pots in trays for what im doing.

Plus rep for spreading the word. I have a soil grw going on right now but this looks almost easy ! I was always afraid of hydro, keeping the ph right and all what do you use to keep your ph and ppm correct ? I know some of thos meters can get pricey. Do you think its possible to grow like this without the fancy meter??

Bro I didnt have any fancy meters when i first started out. There are 2 main rules u must stick to without haveing the meters. One, simply follow the directions on ur nut bottles. Two, U must change ur water on time and on point without failure at least every 2 weeks.I reccomend every 10 days without meters. With meters i change my water every 2 weeks for fresh water supply.
Another rule I follow. Do not over feed. Ur plants are not going to use alot of VEG nuts.In three weeks from seed i rarely even make it to the 1/2 nut phase and my plants are most like topped once and a foot tall.
When u go to flower.Go right to the flower nutes and start all over with the flower schedule.I go 1/4 week one. Week 2 go half. In the meantime u will be topping with fresh water and not adding food. They will be using the food in the water supply.
First water change @ the end of week 2.Beginning week 3 go full strength half nuts.
if u have a pk bost.Something like 0/10/10 then u can supplement during topping with fresh water.Without a meter dont continue to feed ur backbone nuts.Supplement ur pk boost with fresh water toppings. I would say stick to that until the first week before harvest. Then flush with water and chopp after the week of flush.I wouldnt go more thean half strength nuts without a meter.Plants go thru eating and growth spurts and theres always a lil leftover in the bins during water changes.
But yea to answer the question u can do this without a meter.I did.
And it is very simple as long as u stick to the rules and read the instructions on feeding schedules on ur nut bottles.
WATER changes are key.

Slow down bro. I wouldnt reccomend using anything but hydroton in ur pots. Its the cheapest best thing thats worked for me.It doesnt retain much water as well.If u start just placing gravel and things in ur system u are going to be opening up all kinds of avenues for the possibilty of failure.
Stay simple and get all the proer things ur going to need to do it right.
Look around ur area for a hydro store bro. Or order online its cheaper than going to the store. I did this for awhile until i literaly found a store less than a mile away. Hahaha thats what smoking dro does i guess. Bwahahahaha.
Get ur hydroton and pots. And get some peat plugs to. Ill help u set it up.
Stick to the rules for success.

i think i need to make myself a little clearer i feel like i just got bitch slapped by a stranger, haha . The medium i am reffering to is fired clay just like hydroton it just more resembles gravel than balls plus i can get it in 50 pound bags easily. Just was thinking that roots would grow more naturally in a more dense "soil like" medium ... Just food for thought . I wll let you know when i get it setup!

Thanks again

DL for ppl that are looking to go with a hydro or even a aero setup ( areo needs water res too) then check ebay for the ppm and ph meters. I think in total with trans end everything else I paid 50 buck for my ppm meter which reads to 9999 ppm and a combo PH, moisture, and light meter. (the combo was for when I was going to do soil {no dirt for this dude now}) . Seems the bay is good for everything that us growers are looking for. I have found so much stuff it's crazy. Well at least in the US it's looking well for us all.

My bad wink i thought u were talking about gravel. Yes let us know when u get all set up.
Im not trying to screw people up here. To clarify some points said earlier id reccomend that they get themselves the proper tools such as a ph test kit and a ppm meter especially for latter stages of flower.Having a meter not only ensures that u wont burn ur plants up and kill them but it also serves as a measuring device to make sure u arent cheating ur plants of well needed nutrients to reach maximum potential and yield. But like i said u can get setup and purchase the meter later.
Ph is more important.
I try to keep my ph close to 5.6-5.8 cuz thats what is reccomended for growing in my method of growth. You can buy ph up and down at walmart if u need to. This will help keeping that perfect balance.

Anyhow, to make a long story short and not to get off subject of the original intention of the thread.
YES DWC is really this simple. IF you change ur water on time and go easy on ur nutes (better safe than sorry)u can actually build a bucket and grow plants in it without all the fancy gadgets.Just follow the directions on ur bottles and change ur water on time. I wish i could make it harder honestly i cant.

how do you change the water? well safely without messing sum shit up...
Good question.I have a small submersible pump i cant set in my buckets with a piece of hose that is long enuff to reach the nearest drain to my grow.Pump the water out and hose it back in its that simple.
I reccomend putting a small pump inside the tubs as well. Not only do u have a quick and effortless water change technique. But its going to help keep the nuts off the bottom of the bigger reservoirs like i alread mentioned and help distribute ur water and and food solution over ur plants roots.

I dont have a sub pump.. just an external... and I always have a crop ton of nutes at the bottom for res time...

though I dont have one, get one if you can... its on my list

Bro i got the cheap penguin one from petsmart. I think i used a fitting and some 1/2 inch hose to figure this one out.I dont put them in the smaller 5 gallon buckets theres really no need.

Eh, right now I just carry my tub to the bathtub :-/ not to bad really

Then I'll fill up 5 or 6 gallons, place back in the closet, then bring in another 5 gallons (in a 5 gal bucket)

make this ur next purchase bro.its very convenient.u can get the hose at the store u got ur aquarium from. and if u dont have an adapter u can slice the end of the hose a lil and stuff it into the end of the pump outlet. I cant really remember bro but how big is ur res?
