Help fix this before it gets worse

Hi all, growing 3 auto fastbuds cheese in ecothrive Coco. The big girl is going into flower and is showing some lightening of the lower leaves(I know how fast this can spread throughout the plant if not addressed). I'm using shogun nutes and mixing to an EC of 1.5 and ph 5.9. I tried upping the EC slightly but started getting burnt tips so backed off a bit. I'm guessing it's nitrogen or mag issue.watering once a day currently untill around 10/20% run off. Anyone have a suggestion that may help. Cheers

I focus more on the condition of new growth before making any changes. Plant looks great to me!
I'm surprised you are only watering coco once a day though.

Just got a bit worried as I've had this before quite a while ago and then plant yellowed rapidly. Within the next week or so I would imagine it will become 2 waters per day. New growth looks fine

Your EC really isn't very high. If you are getting nutrient burn at 1.5 they probably aren't getting enough light. My last run in Autopots with 100% coco I was running a 3.0 EC in RO until about the last 2 weeks with my lights cranking. Three plants were taking 3 to 4 gallons per day at their peak.

Bottom leaves usually mean a lack of NPK or a mineral which is mobile, perhaps magnesium.

Early bloom/after stretch requires most amount of N. Then it shifts its wants to P to form buds and finally K for ripening

I don’t grow auto’s , I grow photos in coco perlite. I raise the ph during flower gradually from 5.9 in veg up to 6.5 at the end of flowering.
5.9 is too low for flower

I grow autos and do the same but shoot for 6.2 to 6.3

You want something like 3-6x a day feed to avoid issues. My comparison lately is like an engine how it burns fuel/air andraws in fresh air/fuel and repeats. If its not in good order just like an engine, cant really do much without taking apart and re building it. Otherwords you cant. You get build up of salts, minerals, pf buffers and whatelse in the tap water. Bacteria.

Tweaking enviorment can help plant run through its nutes better. Increase air circulation, raise temps. As rh lowers later in flower etc. When ever its just not drying back you still want to circulate fresh solution. Checking ec in runoff helps dial that in, should be within .3 ec from inflow.

I guess its actually really easy to overwater coco and get N tox or locolized N tox. I wouldnt say toxic as I never had issues from that but going from 12x to 6x a day fixed that. I just needed to wrap bags around the pots sealed off so the enviorment dont mess with it and produce rough results. Its working almost 2 wks into flower the leafs never been so perfect light green.

Anyway hope you figure it out. It simply needs more or less and to stay there the ec. From seed new strain can need as much as half the ec. When I did do from seed at the time I didnt learn how to dial in because I just so happened to use a ec in its range. It was 1.1ec at the time. My main pheno needs 1.7ec but a few other strains were fine with it but just had a new strain do 1.2ec.

The rest is just keeping it conditioned with freqency.

Seems to be on the mend now, watering 2 times a day and upped the nutes

That's a classic early flower transition issue with autos — they can be finicky about nutrient balance during that switch. Your EC and pH are in good ranges, so you're on the right track there.

Given that you're seeing burnt tips when pushing EC higher, it's likely more about nutrient ratios than overall strength. Fast Buds genetics tend to be pretty nutrient-sensitive, especially the Cheese line. The lower leaf yellowing during early flower is often nitrogen being pulled upward as the plant redirects energy to bud development.

With Shogun nutes, you might want to check if you're running their full bloom transition schedule — sometimes backing off nitrogen slightly while maintaining or slightly increasing phosphorus and potassium helps. The mag deficiency possibility is worth exploring too, especially in coco which can lock out magnesium.

A few things to consider:
  • Cal-mag supplement if you're not already using one
  • Check your runoff EC to see if you're getting salt buildup
  • Maybe try splitting your daily feed into two smaller feeds to improve uptake
The 10-20% runoff is perfect for coco. Since you caught it early, you should be able to dial it in before it spreads too much.

Alex
Currently they seem ok, the middle one is having the most issues, I did pick up some of the pk boost and seems to have helped
