Nitrogen toxicity

How do I fix nitrogen toxicity in coco coir? Do I just lower the A&B nutrients that I am using and hope for the best? 1 of my plants has got the classic nitrogen toxicty claw in the leaves around the buds. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers

You can feed with 1/4 strength nutes to significant runoff, then go back to regular feeding, just lower your EC a bit and see how the plant reacts.

How often do you feed and at what strength? Feeding lower nutrient strength and more often sort most nutrient related issues growing in Coco coir.

I'm currently in 4th week of flower and feed 1.0 EC, pH ~6.0 5x a day as an example.

I have a new pheno was locked out over fed 1.7ec pretty dark at first then dying out. Its good at 1.2ec now. Not N toxic though. Id think youd burn it first or get lockout.

I'm feeding twice a day, this plant I am feeding is @ 1.8 EC and it is a really Big plant. 1 of the biggest I have grown and it was fine for a while but I've noticed now that the leaves around the buds are starting to claw. I have reduced the EC to 1.7 EC. My tap water is 0.6 EC so the amount of feed that is in the water is 1.1 EC?

The EC going in is 1.8 EC (reduced to 1.7 EC). I'm not sure what the run off EC is due to the fact that I can't move her, she is too big to move, she is taking up most of the grow space and I have her connected to an irrigation system and run off system

Id set it up so you can check runoff its very worth it. Even ig its something like slipping a tray under the pot to get a quick reading, whatever it takes. Should be able to get a shallow tray and lift plant up, slid it under and get the runoff in there. Some might add to let some runoff then put the tray to read the water then.

I personally dont make much of it, just literally getting runoff numbers. What I do do lol I just said doodoo. I test it in its natural cycle, if it just fed, dont feed again to test runoff. Test when the next feed is due or youll fush out the salts youre trying to read. If its .3 ec and higher id do an extra feed per day with good runoff to lower it.

If not lower runoff with that then perhaps lower ec but I havent had go that far. Its probably ok as is, I didnt check runoff all last run and got 22oz lol. It was fine.

It's impossible for me because the plant is right at the back of the tent and I'm working in a very tight small space and I have only got two hands. So I could lift the plant with my two hands but it would be very difficult for me to put a tray underneath it while holding the plant up with my two hands. Lol doodoo I will have to have a go tomorrow at trying to catch some run off but it would be very difficult for me at this stage, especially with how big the plant is. I estimate this plant will produce at least 15 ounces of bud.

Pictures of the possible nitrogen toxicity. I have lowered my feed from 30ml of A&B to 26ml of A&B which gives me a reading of 1.7 EC. The smaller ones are getting 1.5 EC and they are perfectly fine. I'm going to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse I will lower the feed again from 1.7 EC to 1.6 and see how she goes.

Do you have overall plant pics? It helps see the condition of the full plant from top to bottom. If seen leafs bend like that but this ones a bit more than usual. Maybe light? Whats the ppfd on them roughly? Temps and rh?

Id be careful lowering the ec. Do you add any calmag or anything that could be locking things out? People told me to lower ec and it didnt solve the issue it actually went back to normal going back up to normal ec. For me anyway, there tends to be a sweet spot.

Thats why I like coco its easier infact I just solved my own issue with a new pheno. Sometimes you get suggestions that just dont work which includes me giving advice to you. It would help to know the runoff ec so you know its feeding or just sitting in salts which is almost always the issue. Usually from slacking.

How the dry back is it bone dry? I see now you do 2x a day which might be why just guessing. My plants hate drying back they need to be fed before the fabric pot is dry to touch but still wet. Thats what I like about them, I touch the outside and if my hand isnt wet with water droplets it need an extra feed.

Im not so sure thats reason to drop ec that might be helecopter growing. Plants can do plant things. Plant acne, 2-3 tip leafs etc. Let plant be plants lol. Id not worry until you see a seeious issue unfolding and getting worse.

You need to stop any dry back nonsense if you follow any of the new "Crop steering charts" that leaves more info and explanation to be asked for. It's heavily targeted towards novice growers promoting things like dry backs that leads to crystalization and salt build up and force the end user to do repeated flushes to to lower EC and reset the mineral ratios, all for profit.

In any hydro system you aim to have pH and EC as stable, constant and non fluctuating as possible. If you feed high EC less often and let the pots go drier you're causing salt buildup, EC spikes, pH out of range and mineral ratios will eventually worsen.

Coco coir is a hydroponic medium that can't be over watered with established plants and it's better to think of the plant pots as individual reservoirs that optimally should stay more or less the same in terms of EC and pH throughout the grow and your only real job as a grower is to keep that constant while repeatedly move the off gases and replenish the medium that's under constant breakdown releasing acids and minerals back in the mix.

I don't have any overall plant pics but I should be able to get some pics tomorrow. The ppfd is probably around 800ppfd. Temps are around 27 - 28c. RH is about 50%

I don't use calmag there is plenty of calcium and magnesium in my tap water.

There is no dry back. they stay saturated all of the time

The coco stays wet all of the time, I don't do any crop steering or anything like that. My PH is always 6.0. I use a blue labs ph pen and calibrate it once every 30 days.

Almost all strains due fine with 120-140ppm N. That's usually attained at a much lower EC than 1.8

I'm in coco and I use A&B by Dutch Pro. I don't know how much N is in the A&B. The other plants are getting 1.5 EC and none of them are showing signs of clawing. I've lowered my EC to 1.7 EC now. I'm planning on doing a good flush at 1/4 strength tomorrow and then carrying on @ 1.7 EC to see if the problem gets any better.
