Coco and ph?

So im a total amateur 75 percent of the way through my first grow and ive learnt a hell of a lot along the way but one thing that still alludes me is the ph of the actual coco substrate? Is this totally redundant? I use a soil moisture meter to read the substrate and since day 1 the reading has been over 7.9 basically across all plants, it just baffles me i mean the meter reader is only an amazon £20 purchase but its just weird as all 3 plants look healthy , ive always made sure i ph the feed to 5.8 ish which just make me think the substrate should be around that 6.5 mark but its always been around 7.0 plus.. does this mean i should make sure i flush well at the end and goin forward maybe flush between feedings every few weeks?

Those meters are notoriously inaccurate. If you have real concerns, you should collect runoff to measure the ph. I run coco and never check substrate or runoff. I feed ph of 5.8-6.5 and ec of 1.2. I use 2 gallon pots and water 700 ml with 200 runoff up to 5 times a day.

If your using one of those 3 in 1 moisture, light and ph meters that's a problem, they are horribly inaccurate. I suggest ph test drops or an Apera 20 or 60 ph meter.

Always feed to 10-20% run-off at around 5.8-6.2 ph and you shouldn't have ph problems unless there is root rot or something. If there are problems, measure the run-off ph, not the coco. No reason to flush before harvest, just reduce nutes the last week. Lots of good info at cocoforcannabis.com

Agree with @1212ham and @Thurston . I have never checked the pH of the coco or the run off.......I just feed around 6.0 pH and all is good.

Yeah those meters are designed for soil ph, it's reading the cocos ph pretty accurately, but the solutions ph is all you need to be concerned with which is why the plants are doing fine.

Second grow here. I use coco and around 30% pearlite. I've tried several different fertigation methods in both rounds. For me I use canna a and b and PK booster on 5 of the 12 plants this round. It's too expensive but works simply and for idiots like me amazing. Ph around 6.2 I did use mykos. Whatever they are Hand water twice a day 3 gallon plastic pots. Never checked runoff. I wasn't feeding very heavy though. Lots of good info it seems here. I wasn't sure how much 12 plants (state limit) would yield. After chop today I think I'm good for a year.
