What's next in my 4x2?

I've tried 2x5gallon, 3x5gallon, and 4x3gallon - all in fabric pots, and several times each. 3x5g and 4x3g has to be managed canopy and humidity wise, but it's doable with some planning. 2x5gallon is easier, but yields less variety.

I have a big variety of seeds I'd ultimately like to try but at the rate of 3/4 every 4-5 months, it's going to take years to test and try them all! Thinking of trying a SoG, any thoughts on running a bunch of smaller for the sake of variety and spice? Anything I like I can then run again in a 3g or 5g.

I too use 4x2 tents. Over time, I've gradually used smaller and smaller pots. I currently use 1 or two gallon fabric pots, two per tent. I've done so because there was no difference in yields with a 1 vs. a 5 gallon pot in the typical ~10 week flowing cycle. The only substantive difference is fertigation frequency is much higher with a 1 gal pot. The only advantage of a 5 gallon pot indoors is if you're hand-watering.

That sounds like a great way to pheno hunt. 1 gallon pot for a SoG and flower them once they reach sexual maturity - usually the 4th or 5th node. You could get 18 1 gallon pots - 3 rows x 6 pots per row - in a 2 x 4.

You hit the issue with the smaller tents - when you grow larger plants, you will find that more than 2 in 5 gallon pots can affect the airflow inside the grow area.

No system per se, just a simple drain-to-waste setup using some economical off-the-shelf stuff. In my case. a trashcan reservoir with submersible pump, I run open lines to floraflex caps. Cheap, effective, and clog-free. I'm a bit of techie geek so everything is orchestrated, monitored, and logged with a few microcontrollers and various sensors. Completely unnecessary for success (a good timer alone will suffice), but adds to the fun factor and keeps boredom at bay.

I'm assuming you keep your reservoir outside of the 2x4 tents? And your drain tubes go outside your tent to a bucket?
