When I use Lime, I use a combination of.
Calcitic, and Dolomitic.
Calcitic is best for faster PH changes, and Dolomite stabilizes the PH, over a longer period of time, as it is much slower, to break down.
And, of course, the Calcitic, is a better source of Calcium, and Dolomite, is a better source of Magnesium.
Here is NE-Ky, the soil outside, is hard clay, and rocky, and to much Dolomite can turn the soil, into concrete. Used sparingly, if at all.
Premier products, who make Promix BX-HP, and others, use a ratio of 2/3 Calcitic Lime, to 1/3 Parts Dolomite. Sphagnum Moss base.
When making my own medium, I usually use Sphagnum Moss, and Calcitic, and Dolomite, as my Calcium, and Magnesium sources, because the inert medium is nil of both Calcium, and Magnesium, so both are supplemented.
