The skinny on LED's please

What about ceramic HPS bulbs? Whats the skinny on them? Thought that was supposed to be a thing now..

I always see LED Vs CMH vs HPS being debated, etc. I've yet to see anyone compare a single or double ended ceramic HPS to regular quartz MH, HPS, CMH, LED, or any other light for that matter. Why isn't everyone that is till using HID running the more effecient higher quality ceramic HPS bulbs by now? Why do they even still make the same old standard HPS lamps when there is newer higher quality tech like C-HPS..

That is my concern. 100%. We are approaching cold weather. I'd hate to spend the coin on LED while expecting to have lower power consumption only to end up needing a power hungry heater to keep the environment proper.

That was the only reason I've kept the HID's in the back of my mind. I'm going to need some heat. This space doesn't have climate control. So having to figure that in as well.

I appreciate your thoughts.
The answer here is INSULATION, plain and simple.

LED is more efficient, so take advantage of it!

They're kinda hard to find. Insulation is cheaper, especially in the long run.
You can use halogeno spot aswell, the spectrum.of both techs combine really well.with led. Almost like having some hps on tap if you got it on a dimmer. Havent tried it myslef but the few things ive seen online was incredibly encouraging. Check out Gray Faders /Delta9 recent grows on icmag.

IMHO, unless you want to grow xmas tree plants, stay away from the quantum boards unless they're adequately dispersed. Strips are the way to go.
I've been wondering about this. When you say strips, are you talking about something like this; https://www.htgsupply.com/products/htg-supply-4-4-lamp-t5-bloom-led-light/

Or more like this: https://www.htgsupply.com/products/gavita-pro-1900e-led-650w-208-480v-grow-light/

I'm getting back into indoor growing of vegetables and I'm on a budget.

Appreciate all the comments!

I'm a big fan of the Bridgelux EB Series. The gen3 strips are the current iteration. I built my own 400W light with these. Here's the post where I reconfigured the layout to better spread the light over the canopy:
