He's got all those Haze hybrids. There's an abundance of stuff I wish I could collect. Your lucky. I've got a couple of the Skunk#1 I bought before I found my mislabeled seeds.
The fert change this run gave me big differences in the flowers. First...the flowers are skunky and musky as well as the menthol, eucalyptus, sweet, etc...The bloom I top dressed with smells musky. I was just smelling a flower going into a jar for a 24 hr. sweat. It smells skunky. And it's all from how I ferted. The buds taste good too, preliminary tests left me very happy.
When I make fert mix I just go by eye on the proportions using past experience as a guide. This time I wish I wrote it down exactly. I could market this stuff as R's Skunky Skunk bloom. Part of it this go was a fluke though. I started with a castings base and they were wet and caused my whole ziplock to start going fungal. So then I dried it. I had to move it out of the house cause it stinks! I knew if anything is gonna bring the skunk this is it. And it worked. I feel like a mad scientist ( ...using rusty scalpels on the minds of young innocents....lol). It's not just the bloom mix...there's the backbone of my program Neptune's Harvest 2-3-1.
I think I knocked it out of the park this time.

Awesome, so you didn't use any proprietary dry amendments? If you don't mind saying, where did you source your dry amendments from?

All over, Down to Earth, Espoma- and I'm militant about their mushroom compost, Montana,Arizona, Wiggle Worm. I don't want to tell all of my secrets lol.I changed proportions on a couple of things this time...I need to finish drying and curing this go before I get too happy. But I'm smelling stuff I haven't smelled in awhile and it's kinda blowing my mind. I used my late 90's grow as a guide and tried to make a soil as good as the Down to Earth potting soil I used back then. I also have always remembered once when my buddy Jimmy overdosed his plants on Alaska fish emulsion and how the plants accumulated a lot of aroma from it that wasn't unpleasant. Every grower has his own signature. Doing a tent grow I can obsess on every part of the craft. So since 2015 when I wasn't being hassled my grows have all been experiments. My grows have always been experiments really.I am doing better now than when I started to learn outdoor growing.I was still a noober then and Mother Nature an unforgiving teacher. I am pretty effing serious about dialing in any grow these days. It still pains me thinking of the work invested in my busted grows. And I found out just how uncool VA. is in the Authoritarian Sadist department.
I did use one starter mix lightly with a couple other things in my soil to start. I went light with it.

Going down my list of beans, there's loads I'd love to cross to this girl. I think her real contribution to crosses would be those insane terps, and good structure/yield. The things in my collection that stand out to me as potential mates are skunky/chems. Sunshine Day Dream bx, Green Crack bx, Appalachia F3. Those would be my first choices to dust her with.

I think these are skunk 1 genetics? @conor c probably knows the deal with these. The DP website just says 100% skunk selection. That selection/hunt is supposedly where they found their Skunk 1 and Orange Bud moms too, would be nice to know which stock they were working with.

Lucky 13 in Canada, has a killer worked line of 1985 Skunk 1 IBL. Its been tested at an honest 22%, no over blown tests.
IMHO, it is the best example of Sk1 commercially available.
Only thing is, it sells out, as fast as they can make the seeds.

I want to cross a Female Lucky13 Skunk, to a Male Crickets and Cicada PNWHP BC2. Then, I want a Male from that, and cross the male, into a ACE Seeds- Killer A5 Haze, and a DocD A5 Haze IX Females.

I would also like to do a Reverse. Male Skunk x female PNWHP BC2, and cross that, to some ACE gear. Killer A5 Haze-Golden Tiger-Killer A5 Haze.
Only bad thing about ordering from Canada is, at the moment, they are having a massive mail strike. And there are no Sk1 seeds right now anyway. Due to be released sometime in 2025.

If you get a good Euphoria plant I'd like to try it. This is one that I've had my eye on for 20 some years or 30 some years.

My hopes aren't high after growing their orange bud. I wasn't expecting greatness, but the plants were basically ditch weed from start to finish. I've at least heard good things about Eurforia. If you want em, you can have the beans. I don't have any plans to grow them.

If they were regulars.. I'd take them.

I like to use the Skunk as a male. Some crosses I've thought of are Tom Hill's Haze, The Puck from Crickets and Cicadas, Dogwalker/Affie OG from Green Bodhi, Nirvana NL, Dangerous Dog, Chitral just to name a few. Also the Animal Cookies/Chocolope to bring back the lemon cookies skunk which I really liked and lost before I could develope it- and which had a skunk female. For now I'm just going to concentrate on making seeds. I hope I can have a fraction of the success Lucky 13 has had because I'm financially unstable. There's not that many lines of Skunk available...AG, Seedsman, Lucky 13, Khalifa, Sensi's (is not pure.). Then there is me. Any others and I'm sure there are? I always loved this strain.

That's gonna be a tuff one to find the original Skunk.. tons of threads out there about it being instinct.

I was always interested in mineralogy and mining and I feel like I just hit a new lode. I let some flowers sweat for 24 hours and when I just cracked the jar I was rewarded with a heavenly cream aroma. Theres a couple more things to check- especially the effect of an abundance of oyster shell and lime in the soil and if that will make the buds brittle. That's really my only concern and I can change that back in the future if need be.

I'm not trying to find a skunk, just preserve the one I have. The buds I just grew are buds I would put in the U.S. Cannabis Cup if I could. I think I hit my best grade or am close. It comes down to if the lime made the buds brittle.

Do a soil test if you really want to find out. Last year I dumped a gang of calcium in the soil.. ended up throwing it out to start all over. How did I know?

I don't test small batchs of potting soil I just go by the quality of the outcome and adjust if needed.
I test the leachate for pH and EC sometimes. But this grow didn't have much draining from the pots. One other thing I would do differently is to give less water the final 2 weeks.
My grow is brand new so I am getting it just exactly perfect. Because I'm from the Just Exactly Perfect Brothers school of doing things.

I don't think my buds are going to be brittle. We recently had a major humidity dip down to 20% even and so my buds were drying faster than I want and that made me paranoid. Everything is right as rain so far.
I have simple soil tests for N,P,K that I use when I really need to know if I feel something is off. As for using lime it's something I have a lot of experience with but this grow was an experiment using more than I normally use. It has always been hard for me to judge how much to use. But using it in potting mixes is a given for me at this point. The results are there.

Three grows with Skunk 2024:
1) Produced the clone. Plant grown so poorly I threw all the bud in the trash. After all that happened and the move my game was off.
2) First run with clone. Much better soil, still feeling my way...plants way way better than the stuff that went into the trashcan but not what I know it can be. Pliant, spongy, soft but tastes like smoke.
3) I think I got it this time and this is primo bud. Prettiest skunk I've grown. Tastes really good. Terps out of this world. Best jar I've smelled in a decade. Mouth watering when I cracked the jar.
So in summary:
One guy got the skunk and grew some garbage and said," This shit sucks..."
Another guy grew it and said well it's good, but I've had better...
Then a third guy grew it and it was dope of legendary quality.
The moral of the story is that Skunk responds to proper care and love and talented growers can work with it and achieve quality that is amazing. It has helped me immensely in tuning in my grow because I know what to strive for and what to expect.
I've no money but there's a testing lab now about 20 min.away.
