Sativa question..

Just daydreaming a bit here, was wondering about the long flower time of haze.. I want to grow a room full but it’s a long time to wait and it’s going to throw all my other stuff out of cycle. Could I grow a mother to say week 3-5ish of flower, clone and then just keep them in flower to shave some time off them? I’m an indoor grower so smaller plants would be a good thing also.. anyone played with this idea? Or will I be skipping development stage and it’s just a dumb idea?

Most modern haze hybrids have bloom times of 11-13 weeks, its really not that much longer then other strains if your not specificly looking at oldschool landrace tivas.
Problem with cloning in bloom is it takes a good bit of time for cuts to root and you have a much higher success rate with longer light on hours, this will often trigger a reveg while rooting.
I think its @Fatjoe who likes to do this as an MO he might have Some technieques worth sharing.
Look into see of green method where you throw clones off a sexually mature mother into 12/12 as soon as they root.

Hi I wouldn't clone them in flower or you will just end up with a bud on a steam! I would take as many clone off the mother plant as you can in grow cycle, let them root and grow for at least 2 weeks then turn to bud 12 hour cycle you will get more that way, it will take longer though...

I have to disagree. I use flowering clones exclusively. Rarely will I have a normal clone. Have you grown a monster clone?

This is not a bud on a stem as you described. This is a flowering clone harvest. Far reach from a bud on a stick.

Take a clone at 21days flower or anytime in flower and you'll eventually end up with this. I've taken 8+ wk flowering clones and regenerated.

I also air layer clones in flower. This one was taken at harvest.

You can also divide a large vegging plant into 4 or 5 large clones doing the air layer. That can fill up a space pretty fast. You can divide up a flowering plant as well at harvest.

@Mumbeltypeg if ya wanna haze run it. Use a scrog or floater scrog to control her. I do a lot of training and screen use. Come check my Rerun thread sometime. Lots of examples of lst, hst, supercropping, monster cropping, regular and floater scrogs.

I'm just slight obsessed.. lol

That's a spectacular plant . When you say "eventually" what kind of time frame are we looking at ? Are you rooting the clones under 12/12 ? Or are they revegging and being put into flowering afterwards ?

Edit...
I found your rerun thread . Will check it out .

Cool, there's a lot of stuff in there.

But to answer your question. If I take a clone @21 days 12/12 I root it under 24/7 light. My stove light to be exact..lol. Not a big time cloning station but it works. I reveg them. That's the extra step involved with these clones.

If I want a large harvest clone I just use an air layer.

Oh right, no I meant can you continue the flowering time frame with the clone, if your revegging it that puts you back to the same time frame when you go back into flower.
I thought perhaps since some sativas.. like haze for eg just keep growing and growing through flower you may be able to clone and have that clone root and keep growing whilst still under 12/12.. I mean I didn’t really think it likely but like I said… just daydreaming

Wow they look great, every time I clone a plant in bud it never grows like that they look amazing! I joined the forum to learn thanks heaps!
after reading your post I never put mine in re veg at 24/7 I just kept running them at 12/7 thank you! air layer I will do to my plant now also.

I wanted to like your post but I can't click like must be because I'm new here.

Your original idea will work, however you will need to take large clones. If you take a small cutting that is in week 5 of flower, and continue the 12/12 while its rooting, the plant wont grow much larger. It will direct all of its life energy into developing flowers at that point.

Hypothetically, you would need to have a really large mother, that is in week 5 of flower, and take clones that are 2-3ft tall?

The one thing I can say with certainty, is that it would be extremely difficult to have one mother that can be used for a perpetual cycle of clones that are 5 weeks in flower. The math doesn't work out. You would have no clone material to work with for least 5-6 weeks.

I can elaborate on why, but to keep it simple, the fact is that you would have to prune and reveg the mother before flowering her again.

Your exactly right you explained that well, I normally clone of a mother in grow state for months, let the clones root at 18/7. Only tried to clone flowering plants a few times and now you've told me exactly what I am doing wrong, I appreciate it very much thank you.

Nothing wrong with taking cuttings in mid flower and revert them back to veg. It's what some people called "monstercropping" since it brings alternate internodes and a more open structure for better or worse.

It's what I started out doing before I kept mom's.

I've learnt something new, I'll try it out at some point thanks again!

There's time to be saved using clones over seed, also shorting the daylight hrs to 11-13 makes a big difference to the height, speed into flowering mode and finishing up.
Screenshot_20240114_212134_YouTube.jpg
I'd never ever had plants looking near ready around 50 days from seed until I went 11-13 all else being equal.

I've got new seeds started I might try 10-14 depending on how many females I get?

That’s actually not that bad of a problem as I only want to do one run of Sativa, and I have somewhere I can veg/flower a big mother separately..I
