Basic parameters for the cultivation for DIY project

Hello,
I am a student of mechatronics engineering and am creating an agricultural automation project. The basic structure is complete, but I need some information so I may code well. Here are some details:
===========================================
Material Required
===========================================
A small Land for cultivation
Seeds
ESP32
Connecting wires
Power source
Connecting ports
Breadboard
LED lights
Pump
Motor
Motor Controller
Tank
Laptop
==========================================
Steps
==========================================
Connect the hardware components in the form of circuits.
Connect the power source on the ground and power terminals
Connect motors to the pump and tank
Use Arduino IDE for coding the ESP32
=========================================
Confusion
=========================================
The question is, I don't know much about the parameters for watering the land.
I searched online, but I want to ask here the experts if I work for the automation of marijuana land, what must be the parameters? Moreover, I want to ask if there are other parameters to add to the code.
Suggest some points that must be added to the project because I know nothing about marijuana.

Hello, I still need the information. Its urgent.

I’m not sure you picked the best project, perhaps you should build a project around something you already have some knowledge about. There are many books and forums about growing, you want us to search out everything you we think you might need and spoon feed it to you? For the sake of the next generations I hope we write AI good enough to take care of you all.

Most of the time with forums it is a give and take.
Your not providing enough input, you sketched out what you want and want us to fill in the missing parts.

You should start a small grow and see the parameters that need to be met and try to automate that.

The first question is how do you decide when to water?

Some of us don't mind to help but what the young ones don't realize most of us have been around the block we don't mind helping but we don't want to do all the work.
This could be an interesting project and develop useful conversation or not.
There was a posting the other day for a survey, that wanted 90 minutes of your time. No compensation to get more participation offering a chance to win a gift card or tee shirt helps.

Think the next generation is screwed for a number of reasons.

I agree. I don’t mind helping people out at all, I find it annoying when people just say “I have a problem and don’t feel like looking up the answer, answer it for me now.” There’s plenty of automated watering systems already, along with lengthy discussions on how to improve them, and books explaining what goes into decisions when designing them. I wonder if the OP bothered reading any of those prior to demanding we answer his questions for him, stating “I really need answers, it’s urgent.” If it’s truly urgent, pick up a book and start reading when the project is assigned. Sorry for the rant, but it is thanksgiving and I have to cope with family. Somehow it brings out my intolerance for lazy people with their hands out.

I guess it must be urgent. Bets on the patient died....

It was a software development project and your not likely to just find the answer in a book. There are sites you can copy programing from but if you don't make it different enough from the source you will get caught.
I worked on many automation projects and spent a good portion of time collecting data from a moving car.

As a former instructor of young minds I am stunned that this student was set loose on a project with no idea on sourcing data. The first things he wrote were all stuff and none of it was research. His instructor let him loose with no plan ensuring failure.
Instructor should have had him outline the information needed and the student would have documented his research and how he came about the information.
Now having said that he did not need any information at all. He is trying to engineeer a system for automation. The only thing he needs to do is script the automation but leave the totals for flow/ rate/ drainage empty. For an automation feature only the values of material moved ( water) are not needed.
To me it sounds like he was given a task and decided to go for extra credit and possible set himself up for a grow.

Setting up ANYTHING in agriculture to be automated without being able to control the enviroment ( outdoors ) is an almighty crap load of date points and data streams. Watering is dependant on plant needs which will depend on plant enviroment.
You want data points here are data points.
Remember each data points generates data streams.
Soil moisture/humidity/ sun load (dli)/ airflow/ temp /
Now as cannabis is so very variable during the grow as the water requirments change with growth. In soild watering a plant 3 weeks in veg is different than watering a flowing 8 foot tall sativa with 100 or more flower nodes.
Good luck with your studies. Also stay in school!

Op has left the building :blsmoke:

Just in case op returns...
Spend a few hours watching some YouTube videos. This channel focuses on large commercial operations and breaks down many aspects like irrigation, etc.
