What is the styrofoam for if I may ask? Oh, and where did you get that platform with wheels under your city Pickers?
I did it to insulate the earth in the totes instead of mulching. Worked ok with my last pickers run so decide to use em again.
The plastic pallet was acquired from work. Piece of equipment came on it and I called dibs lol

Interesting idea. I can get behind an artificial mulch, I've used panda film on mine a few times.

If it were me I'd fill them all the way with soil first, so the bottom edge of the foam pieces sit level with the rim of the container, then put the hairnets on. Those planters don't look very deep so you're losing out on valuable soil volume by not filling them

honestly I feel that with the depth. But last time I used these I ran into issues mid to late flower bc I feel I didn’t keep up with top dressing. Sooo I figured to leave enough room to top dress / amend I’d imagine weekly later on to keep the soil healthy. I would honestly like 20-30gals sips at some point..

Fair point. I follow the Growbox instructions to mound the soil up as high as possible but it does make top-dressing a bit of a pain if it's needed, especially watering it all in after applying it...

How many gal are the growboxes? I couldn’t imagine not having to top dress unless I had small plants in big containers. It’s a a tough balance I’m still figuring out but this is only my 2nd SIP run. Seen amazing results my first sip grow albeit up until mid flower then crawled to the finish line. Indoor is just such a different animal and takes more thought n care. I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ll be top dressing weekly. Them city pickers were filled packed with roots from some autos (Twenty20 Durban Sunrise & trizzlers, also freebie gnome automatics The Forge)
The ratio had to been off in that zone.

I think the Growbox is 1.5 cubic feet so like 11-12 gallons. I do one medium or two small-ish plants per box, usually clones with a couple weeks of veg time, but I think the key is reusing and amending the soil between rounds. It seems like my mix has gotten better each time and I've had to top-dress less or not at all.

That’s good to hear about amending. I’ll have go for that. I saved all my soil I pulled out of these. I spent a lot building it lol. U on well water?
