Are these girls dying

Second run at rdwc, the Plants have no life in them. They are droopy and some of the leaves are crispy at the tip. We are having a few freezing cold days here at the moment so I put in an oil radiator which I've noticed has now caused the humidity to be down at 30%. I also changed my res two days ago the water was pretty cold going in and took a couple of hours to heat up. Is this due to low humidity or am I overlooking something else

I use aquarium heaters during the colder months to keep the solution temp in the high 60s. Some have built in thermostats, otherwise just hook them to a digital temp controller. Just plop them down in the res and be careful not to break the glass coated ones. MAke a protective PVC pipe cover if worried about it, with a bunch of holes drilled out. Titanium tubes are the best ones though, IMO.

So do you think it was cold shock. The water temp during the change was 50f. I have it up to 68 since last night no sign of improvement yet

Lets hope so. Might take a few days to recover and perk up again, unless there is some other problems. Sudden low temps can definitely shock the plants, but sometimes just stalls growth.

With DWC, I've learned to not worry much about what the upper canopy or leaves looks like. I pay more attention to the roots, and the solution parameters. PH, temps, EC, water level rise and fall, etc. When you make sure everything down below is good and stable, the top side is almost always lush and healthy above the lids.. I basically pretend I'm just growing roots, as if the rest of the plants aren't even there.

That's a great mentality to have, growing roots. That's what brought me to dwc. The first grow was stellar but this one is shit. So this all happened after the res change so it has to be that. The roots look good. I'll give it a few days the cut them down, they stopped drinking
