Bud washing

So guys i have a question, some people wash thier buds with baking soda and lemon juice, or hydrogen peroxide, with two rinses after. My question is could we not wash with dish soap, and rinse ? Or why would this not work? I mean its safe for our plates and cups, and people use it on plants for minor pest management so i imagine it doesnt harm the bud. Interested to know your thoughts, as im thinking of trying it

Because dish soap won't wash clean and leave taste in your bud. It also doesn't kill the mold, which is the point of bud washing.
Agreed

It has a small amount of bleach in it for starters it's also not meant to be ingested bud washing isn't needed bin what isn't up to scratch or mouldy and keep what is good

Cheers, Luckily mould ive never had to deal with i was just thinking general wash, so maybe plain water then? i recently had a minor whitefly infestation, which is all good now i check the leaves daily and see 1 or 2 adults i just sqaush them. and we have a cat so there is a few hairs here and there. But just wondering if its even worth doing.

We don't wash our fruits and vegetables with dish soap so maybe not wash your buds with it.
Go with a true and tested method and make sure to have enough airflow when drying since the buds will be soaked.

You wash the food you consume. Why not wash the bud you smoke.
You ingest the food you eat, and digesting things like Salmonella and Coliform can make you sick, so you should wash it. when you're smoking something this isn't an issue. Tobacco is not washed before you smoke it, chewing tobacco is.

If it's dirty enough to need washing turn it into hash.

Smoking PM an mold spores is a big problem for some people a simple dip into peroxide kills the spores. But washing with dish soap is crazy nasty. I wash all my outdoor bud for this reason plus the bugs an pollen from trees.

Why grow weed you need to WASH...???
Outside? To rinse some of airborne sand particles off.

I just can see you washing this off with a simple dipping.

You know, Im in the same sotuation but I dont want to bud wash because I found I went from 12% flower rosin to 20% same strain confirmed 3 times in a row seperate clones but same pheno if I hand trim. Im very gentle with the bud as anything like touching buds or machine trimming literally loses hash so idk what would happen if I dunked it all in water.

Might not even be as bad as I think maybe isolated areas of lots of spores but if stayed on top of who knows it may be much cleaner than I think. Just my thoughts maybe for science Il bud wash a quater oz. They arent wrong for questioning if it could knock off heads. If cold water or warm? Cold probably a no-no.

well
If that were the case wouldn't a heavy rain wash away your trichomes on outdoor weed? But it doesn't.
plants have leaves protecting them from heavy rain.
We use water and ice ( to maximize the affect) to wash the trichomes off to make hash so yo think that sticking my branches into a pail of water and whoosh it around a bit and assume nothing fell off would be a bit far fetched for me anyway.

I guess they could be super sticky .

Or the final end product the hash Id think could lose terps and sauciness therefor taste/potency. Or just dab weird. I didnt think fresh weed and wet weed dry the same either and may reintroduce risk of mold idk though Im here to learn an in same boat.

The ice freezes the trichomes thats why they fall after beating the shit out of them . A simple bud wash is nothing like that. An the leaves dont protect shit outdoor bud gets soaked many times before harvest with out losing trics. Been a outdoor grower 40 plus yrs been a bud washer for almost 10 its amazing the shit that comes off outdoor flower i was shocked first time i did it.

I once took the water from the budwash and ran it through my bubble bags, only the 25u and there was about a .6-.8 of hash
I'm not worried about loosing a half a joints worth of hash over an entire harvest. You loose more trimming.

It can dissapear. Why isnt there 100gs of hash in my budtrimmer? It somehow vanished. Proven it 3 times its crazy about to do 60gs from 12oz instead of just 30gs a tent.
