Snag some seeds called NL XXL Auto and this picture came with. Anybody venture to guess if we have indica or sativa or something in between? Have only grown indica. Screenshot_20241012-112018_Chrome.jpg

Being an auto it’s a ruderalis hybrid. Since it’s called northern lights you’d think its indica leaning, but the pic looks a bit sativa like, but definitely a hybrid.
This is what doesn't make sense. When you punch in Northern Lights XXL auto into Google everything comes back indica or indica leaning and with this picture my thinking is that it's sativa looking like you say.
Grew some of that 24 Carat by Mephisto that was 100% Indica no hybrid or sativa happening at all

There’s a particular user here Charles Farley or something with a Barney the dinosaur avatar that claims he’s isolated sativa characteristics from the original NL release, after breeding it for several filial generations. You can look up the old threads if you want to do a deep dive, but the conversation got a bit argumentative at times. He’s got a website talking about it too, and has named his strain something different but similarly constellation-based in name.

The plant you posted definitely represents with sativa characteristics, but who’s to say what the actual lineage is. It’s possible to get freak representations from parental lines sometimes, but if you’re solely after indicas, this doesn’t look very promising. You’d have to ask the person you got the seed from for more details.

Looks like an XXL ruderalis. You could try crossing it with a heavy indica and breeding into a strain that would suit your personal needs. Buy a heavy indica auto, spray it with Silver Thiosulfate Solution and cross pollinate the XXL.

Ok let's start with nl all nl weed is hybrid the first one is nevils mazari x possibly Kandahar or whatever Murphy's Afghan is anyway that's a pure indica hybrid the two is the nl one x kush the 5 was more a sativa indica hybrid if you got the USA line the line Nevil had and the one most know as nl5 was more indica leaning genetics wise it's meant to be nl x Hawaiian anyway you get the idea so when you take these and mix ruderalis in there it's even more of a hybrid of the 3 it's a mix it could be indica leaning but alot of ruderalis stuff has small thin leaves too that's what I'm seeing in those pics imo
