Tent suggestion

I'm in the market for a new tent. My apologies if this place isn't the most appropriate place to post such a topic, I couldn't find a dedicated tent space.

I have narrowed my search down to two tents: the new Vivosun, or the 'new' Gorilla tent (6'8). I'm kind of leaning towards the latter because of their reputation. However, that Vivosun looks awfully tempting, does anyone have any experience with Vivosun's new tent products? If so, would you recommend it over the Gorilla tent?

I am not impressed with Gorilla's "lite" line of tents (not sure if that's what you're referring to). I do not think for the price they are worth it. I'd go with AC Infinity over Gorilla.

I second the AC Infinity tent. I’ve got an AC Infinity tent and a Viparspectra tent, and I really like the AC Infinity. It’s got thicker tent material, a more robust zipper, and thicker/stronger support posts. They were similar in price when I bought them. I’d definitely buy another AC Infinity tent. (I haven't used any of their other products)

edit: both are 5x5 tents

Bought 3 vivosuns never a gorilla but I like their height adjustable concept. Vivosuns the smaller the better, the bigger the more wobbly and baggy the fabric becomes. Depends though so my 3x3x6 is very wobbly beyong my liking but I have thin ply wood over top that touches the wall which some what stabels it.

My 2.5x5x6.5 is less wobbly even though its bigger so theres that. I had a 2x4x5 that was fine. The bigger tents are baggy which is good or bad how you look at it. Bad if do nothing about it the negative air pressure sucks in walls making less space.

If you wedge a clothes hanger in corners youll get like up to 5” extra space around the tent. My 2.5x5 is stable I will add, with fans lights etc. Its a cheaper tent I like that and the zippers prove to withstand usage. Just my comments on vivosun I had 3 of them. Gave the small one away.

I run dual Gorilla 5x5s which were my first choice and have no complaints. Good luck...
Dual?? You must smoke a shit ton of weed LMAO

I'd like to grab the Gorilla tent because of the additional height offered, but my ceiling is only 8 feet tall. This might sound dumb (pardon my ignorance), do you think I would have enough clearance to manoeuvre it into an upright position after I get the canvas wrapped around the poles? The reason I was going to opt for the 6'8 inch tent is because of those few additional inches of space to work with. And if that didn't work, then I was going to opt for the 6'6 Vivosun instead.

Both you and @curious2garden have the same light I intend to purchase, and apparently the same tent I'll most likely end up grabbing.

I have mine running in my dedicated flower room and then in one of my 5x5 Gorilla tents. The other 5x5 tent has two of the HLG 350s and a UV bar.

So you guys have one tent for veg and another for flowering? How do you manage to get the plants out without damaging the stems?

I hear of some growers using this method. I had a little trouble trying to fathom getting the plants out of the tent, I thought perhaps a roller board might suffice but there's that little bit of lip on the bottom of the tent that would obstruct the cart.

I have 2 of the vivosun 4ftx5ft tents they have a 4ft² grow area and a 4ft x 1ft clone / mother section on the end .
I run a 1000w phlizon light in each tent it just fits wall to wall i run it maximum at 480w .
The reason i oversized the light was i dont need any suplemental lighting on the sides with these lights and the leds will last longer only running at 50% .
And if plans change in the future( upscale) i can still use them.

The original Gorilla line is now called "Pro" and has the advantage of having multiple zippers for the doors. It makes it easy to open one side of the tent. Also, the zippers run all the way around to the back of the tent so the front and side of the tent can be accessed.

The Pro tents are more expensive but you get what you pay for. I've had my 2' x 4' since 2017 and the only issue I've had is that I had to replace the velcro that holds open the left side. Other than that, rock solid.

Gorilla also offers equipment boards for their tents that can come in handy.

AC Infinity is the value proposition IMO.
