Unless a bunch of the prospects they’ve gotten turn into gems.. Vladdy and Bo are both inconsistent and unreliable.. but ya, 2025 not looking good..

front office for the bjs sucks…..
Agree.....Bo Bichette has been the biggest disappointment as he was looking so awesome in spring training then just fell apart in the regular season....I think he should have been traded.

Guerrero seems to be back on track but he was a major reason why the team never got traction in the first few months

Joey Loperfido looks like he has the potential to become a gem, he seems to be fitting in well.

We thought Davis Schneider was a gem but he's in a serious slump, time will tell if he can get his act together or not.

The regular season is wrapping up with some very interesting battles to determine the playoff picture.

AL East - looks like the NYY has 1st place as Baltimore have been tanking with a 3-7 record in the last ten games

AL Central - is very exciting with the Tigers making a last ditch effort to make the playoffs, while both the Royals and Twins are struggling

AL West - the Astros seem to have the division wrapped up but Seattle still has a slim chance to make a wildcard

NL East - Philly has the division but quite the surprise to see the NY Mets take the lead over the Braves, who will play each other over the next 3 days which should make or break one of them.

The Braves last 3 games are against KC who are struggling but will be give a 100% effort, whereas the NYM last 3 games are against the Brewers who have not much to gain or lose so will likely rest up their top players for the playoffs.

NL Central - the Brewers have that division in the bag

NL West - seems to be set, Dodgers, Padres & Diamondbacks ....don't see anything changing

And a special note to the Chicago White Sox who are about to set a modern day record of the worst season in the MLB

They just need one more loss to beat the 1962 NYM record of 120 losses but won't exceed the 1899 Cleveland Spiders all time record of 134 loses

The 2024 MLB season ended yesterday.....well not quite as the Mets & Atlanta have a double header today due to the hurricane.

They would have cancelled these games if they had no impact on the standings but they must be played to determine the NL wildcards.

Bottom line: if the Mets & Braves split today's games, they both advance with Atlanta 5th seed and NYM 6th seed

If the Braves or Mets win both games, the losing team will go golfing and the Arizona Diamondbacks will take the 6th seed.

I never would have guess the Diamondbacks would be in this position to have their fate on the shoulders of another team

Wildcard playoffs start tomorrow Oct 1st

NL wildcards:
5th seed will play the Padres and 6th seed will play the Brewers

AL wildcards:
5th seed KC will play Baltimore and 6th seed Detroit will play Houston

BTW: the Chicago White Sox did manage to set the modern day record of 121 loses, but they put up a good effort at the end of the season.

Unlike the Blue Jays who finished off the season looking very disappointing.

Sucks that MLB didn't allow Rose into the HOF before he died. Pete bet on his own team, to win. Big deal.
Now every major sport is oiling their asses for that betting money. And Pete is still dead and not in the HOF.
No one will ever break the all-time hits record. Ever.

One of Pete's last quotes " I wish I had an interpreter to blame it all on" (in reference to Ohtani's interpreter betting)

The NYM vs Atlanta "pre-playoff" double header was a very exciting game 1, one of the best games of the season.

It looked like the Braves were in the drivers seat with a 3-0 lead, then the Mets scored 6 runs in the 8th inning.

The Braves get 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to make the score 7-6, then the Mets come back with 2 runs in the 9th inning to win the game 8-7

The Mets did not have the pedal to the metal in game 2 because if they had won they would have to play San Diego instead of the Brewers....Milwaukee is a much shorter flight and those Padres are looking very good this year, strong contenders to win it all.

I'm glad they both won a game to advance to the playoffs, and to send the Diamondbacks to the golf course.

MLB 2024 playoffs start today

AL:
Detroit @ Houston
KC @ Baltimore

NL:
NYM @ Milwaukee
Atlanta @ San Diego

Quite surprised to see the Orioles fall apart "again" in the playoffs, in two games they could only achieve a single run against the Royals.

Glad to see KC advance who really made huge improvements, as last year they finished 2nd last overall with a 56-106 record.

The Tigers did a number on the Astros, who also looked very disappointing "again" in the playoffs.

Detroit were 11 points behind in early August, but really got their act together to make the postseason.

No surprise to see San Diego dominate, as the Braves didn't play bad, it was just the Padres playing that good.
The Padres are serious contenders to win the World Series..... if they can just get past the Dodgers.

The Brewers played much better yesterday, forcing a game 3 to determine who advances.
This is a tough one to call, as the NYM are looking good, should be a great game to watch today.

The Brewers were so confident going into the 9th that they were going to win the game with their 2 run lead, but Alonso rained on their parade with a 3 run homerun. The Mets get one more run to win the game 4-2 and advance to the NLDS

ALDS:
Detroit @ Cleveland
KC @ NYY

NLDS:
NYM @ Philadelphia
San Diego @ LA Dodgers

At the end of the day you must factor the teams post season revenue generating power into the equation .. It is the entertainment business .

Big game tonight on the west coast be a shocker if it does not go 5 … see above ..

Great time to be a baseball fan …

Edit : San Diego was flat out rockin last night that energy was felt through the big screen. Tonight …O lawd…gonna be epic ..

edit edit : lol , stand corrected… That place was fucking morgue quiet … not even crickets could be heard …

I watched all 4 games yesterday (I'm retired with time to kill) but was so bored with the Dodgers/Padres game that I fell asleep

Was very impressed with Detroit's win over Cleveland, then even more impressed with the Mets eliminating Philly.

NYY & KC was a good game, it could have gone either way

The Dodgers eliminate the Padres in somewhat less of a blaze of glory, but a win is a win.

Looking forward to the NLCS with the Mets & Dodgers, should be a good series

Detroit & Cleveland play today to determine who goes to the ALCS against the NYY

It's surprising how flat both Aaron Judge and Shohie Ohtani are performing in the postseason.

Judge has a .154 AVG and Ohtani isn't much better with a .200 AVG....both need to get their act together to advance to the World Series

Tough crowd . That series was must see tv start to finish . Got that “yips “hurdled cleared early . They are gonna make a serious run at a ring this year ..

Coach showed absolute trust in his team to preform , “Playing for outs “ ,etc and they all preformed(team). Winning with out the payrolled superstars impact is a very good thing . Mookie let ‘em all know he has seniority .

So much baseball left the leauge never cares about how you start (it is not remembered ) it’s all about the finish that’s the glory .. Why they are called “SUPERSTARS” both those are bonafide.

I hope the high quality of baseball continues throughout .. GOOD STUFF from both leagues. Sure feels like big brother will push a dodgers vs Yankees series on us ,Superstar battle .Be good for the world and the bankroll ..How I have been tailoring my bets at least .

edit: I am looking forward to the moment being big enough for Shohei to take the mound ..
