Hi I've been experiencing an issue since upgrading my phone.

Whenever I try to post a photo the upload works, but I don't see an option to insert into my post and a thumbnail isn't generated.

I tried posting from both my phone my macbook with the same result.

Seems to be physical dimensions, not file size.
right we have physical dimensions that can be too big that arent allowed and also resolution and file size you just happened to hit one of them when uploading
Iphone photos can be quite big

We dont have ability to support half a million users photos of that size

Figured it out.

if you turn off resolution control it will take 24 megapixel pics instead of 48

Decreasing the image size will result in images that can't be enlarged as much as an image that's stored with a larger file size. Also, the image itself is lower quality because the software in the camera has to throw out pixels to make a smaller file. And that's on top of reducing image quality because it's a JPEG and JPEG's, can't not reduce image quality.

Rather than reduce image quality for all of the pictures you take, this might be helpful - create a "Gardening Exports" folder and, for each day that you're uploading photos to RIU, create a folder for that day. "20240926" would be the name of the folder for today. Export the image from Photos as medium size and medium quality. They'll upload quicker and download quicker and you won't be reducing the quality of all of your photos just to be able to upload to RIU.
