Man this Saharan Dust is messing with me today.........95F today with heat index of 104F

Florida need to start looking at the Gulf seems something brewing around the antillies, Puerto Rico area, and area of organization is happening may become and tropical storm or even a Cat 1...so beware....

There was a story on NPR this morning about electric boats. The main story was about a big fishing barge, but they said in some places the 5-20hp eclectic outboards were outselling gas motors. Noise, air and water pollution is all trending down where there are more electric motors.

Yea, the heat index was up to 119F yesterday(when it was 95 actual F). I try to stick to the shade as much as I can, but when you do have to get out into the sun, it's crazy hot.


Our weather guy said there was a chance the tropical system could just stall out over us. Not much in the way of steering currents. Me nor the riverhouse is in the mood for another flood.

yeah i know what u mean about crazy hot, it will be 97 today with an index of 105, later this week the weather guy predicts the century mark for both Saturday and Sunday, looks like i'm staying in the house for the weekend till 7pm when it cools a bit.....

i was watching that storm in the antilles yesterday in Tropical tidbits, it shows spegetti models to the east coast of Fl, some of the models show in going into the panhandle then turning towards Orlando then back out into the gulf and move towards Ol Miss.....it's still young and un organized so time will tell what it does. Ither way, you be careful out there

If I sit in the middle seat using the 24" extension handle marked, "For Trolling Speeds Only" I get 5mph on my little Garmin GPS unit. 4.2 max sitting in the back. I'm going to shorten the shaft to bring the handle down lower. The lakes are weedy so I don't want the prop 2' under the boat. Also bought enough 8 gauge wire to be able to keep the battery up front to help keep the nose down. I row it around a lot too for the exercise. The handle will tilt up to about 45° but not down.

I don't usually bring the motor to the little trout lake I haven't even been to yet this year. Nice fall evening and would be dead flat if they hadn't started up the aerator already. Sprays a big fountain of water up in the air. A good air pump system with weighted airlines would put a lot more O2 in the water and be a lot cheaper to run too. Reduce the amount of dead vegetation in the lake too.

We got two fiberglass boats when we bought the riverhouse. They have trolling motors hooked up for feet steering. They got a little damaged when the barn feel on them during Michael, but I think they would work if I charged the batteries. They have Georgia decals, so I bet it would be a bitch to get paperwork on them. I do have a little slough there I could put them on.

Terrible picture, but you can see both boats. The one by the ramp is shorter by two or three feet.

The last couple three storms I have been using google maps to get a look at where they expect it to go. They are working with NHC for location and projected path. (if you zoom in and see that it will pass right by sandhill cemetery, don't worry, it's a different sandhill than the one I live on. For now I'm outside the cone)

First chill bump of the season. Low of about 70F this morning, with a good wind. We've been looking for tomato worms everyday after breakfast, and this morning I had to go back in and get a shirt.

About a month ago our local TV weatherman was getting lots of flack at the diner (where I have my weekly breakfast with Cousin John) for saying something about a cold front pushing through. I explained to them, that yes it was still 95 degrees, but it felt like 95, not 105 for a change.

It's been rather nice here the last couple of day, we had a tropical storm cross over last week dumping nice rain, now this weekend we have the forming of Francine, which is gonna form to either a high hurrican 2 or a low 3, and it's gonna bring our temps hotter and more humid down here, it's all good, during the rest of the week 92-95F with humidity temps be close to feeling 100 to 102F

Frannie is bringing me a little rain. Much needed. I went down to the pond the other day, and there is hardly any pond left. The river has been below the low water threshold (of 8.95') for a couple three weeks now. With two days of rain, we are up to 9.25', but it will be right back down below 9 in a couple days after the rain stops.

Yea, Helene looks to be headed toward Apalachee Bay, about 50 miles east of Mexico Beach, where Michael made landfall. And the path is forecast to be toward the northeast, so even further away from me. But it's still going to be way closer than I want. And at least a Cat 3. We went to town today, and the gas stations and grocery stores were a little crazy. The good news is Helene is in a hurry. Landfall Thursday PM, up in Kentucky 24 hours later. So not as much chance of flooding.

if i'm guessing right, Helene will be a strong Cat 3, you just be careful and make sure you have everything you need to ride it out.....even though it will be a little east of you, Helene isn't gonna be a small storm...js
