??? If I get a seed from dispensary from a top shelf selection. What are the chances of getting the same potency?

I read that getting seeds from buds most of the time aren't as good as it was. I'm hoping this high phosphorus and potassium calcium no nitrogen food will help with potency as well as formation

If it came from something good then there is definitely a chance it will produce something good.

however seeds are always a crap shoot unless they are really worked by the breeder to increase stability over several generations.

Otherwise most seeds are going to be a random combination of available genes from the parents with no strong likelihood it will be any thing special. That is why it’s valuable to plant as many seeds as you can and pheno-hunt the plants that will grow best in your environment.

One thing to note is that the seed was LIKELY produced from a self-pollination....probably a 'nanner that did it.....the offspring from such a self-produced seed, MAY be that its trait for throwing 'nanners will be magnified....Or, it might not be. On the good side, that plant is almost assuredly going to be a female....for the most part.

EDIT: And yes to what Thundercat said, too!

Don’t try to go too hard feeding the plant. More is not specifically better. More nutrients will not “make it more potent”.

potency is determined dominantly by the genetics of the plant. You as a grower just need to provide the best conditions for that plant to grow healthy and express its genetics.

Even the best grower can’t turn bad genetics into good weed. But bad growing can turn the best genetics into bad weed.

Great answer. That's exactly what I was wondering. The plant is only as good as it's genetics. The growing process determines how well you prepare those genetics to flourish. Thanks

I think that seeds from dispensary buds nowadays are more likely to produce decent flowers than the bag seeds that were available in the 1970s and ‘80s. I think that we are lucky that the genetic material that is circulating now has been selectively bred for potency. I have been able to grow some pretty decent Super Lemon Haze from seeds that I got from dispensary flowers. Right now I am growing a strain that I got from an eighth of Lilly at a dispensary in Long Beach. I don’t know if it’s like the original Lilly but I like the effects.

Depends what it is it's all down to genetics not everything old is so weak plus anything that's actually a ganja strain and not used for hash has been selected for use as bud and for potency for centuries if not thousands of years depending what it is also the Indians have known about growing sensi for a long time far longer than anyone in the Americas the stuff we have today is only so because of the work put in by those that went before it didn't just happen overnight and when it comes to bagseed it's definitely a lottery I know all seeds are but even more so with them I think
