I’m hydro and I believe I have the damn Gnats. I hate bugs!!

3 plants 5-6week. 1 auto went to flower she’s at 3-4 weeks in flower the other 2 photos vegging.

Saw one little gnat the other day. Then 2 the day after. This morning 3-5 so not a coincidence. My roots look cleanish. Stained from nutes but not seeing the fungus build up. Put fly paper in the tent. I germ then go to rapid rooters. Could the larva be in the rapid rooters and that’s why I’m not seeing it yet?

What to do? I run Bennie’s not sterile. But H2O2 on hand. I just did res change and really don’t want too.

H2o2 5ml/gal h2o? Into the res? Hose the roots down? Poor 5ml/1gal solution over the clay so it hits the rapid rooters.

What is your substrate?

If you get alge on the clay pebbles it attracts fungus gnats like crazy. I have had problems with them up here in Alaska as everything up here that's wet gets mold and mildew. I used mosquito bits as suggested by the guys at the hydro store and it kills them pretty quick but that was with soil. You could possibly sprinkle some on top of the clay. Idk just a suggestion.

They are attracted to the rapid rotters, and the reason I quit using them. I only use small rockwool plugs if anything (bare roots, preferably) when transferring starts into net cups with hydroton.

You could mix up a seperate bucket of bleach water (or whatever solution) and dunk the whole net pots to up above the stalk, and then rinse & put them back into the system without disrupting the bennies. You def wanna kill them off though, because they can spread other pathogens into the root system.
