Not Russets! What else could it be??!

Been through this for awhile. Plants are growing and look healthy besides the new growth that is coming out mutated. First it was one, now all of them. Some are worse than others but I’ve checked with 90x and don’t see Russets. I have leafhoppers and whitefly’s, which I got rid of. I tried mixing 3/4 FFOF with Promix Coco and worm castings, so dont know if it’s a micronutrient problem, different bugs, root issue or what, I just find it odd that it all happened within a couple weeks to all the plants. All from seed. Have not been giving them any nutes except light doses of grow big here and there and compost tea from extreme gardening. WT IZ UP??!!

It really doesn’t look like bugs. I assume you found nothing under the leaves, you might need a loop. My only experience with promix was not a good one, but many use it successfully. I do remember it was peat based and I had ph issues with it.

That’s what it seems like is happening. 90x loop and no bugs except the leafhoppers I can see with my naked eye. It’s really tough to balance because I mixed the two. The new growth is starting to look a bit better. What would you say is the best ph tester that’s easy to read?

I use a cheap amazon tester, as long as you calibrate it and keep clean it'll do the job. I quit using one, I'm not growing with synthetic nutes anymore and you really don't really need to PH with an organic grow.

So flush and test or what would you say? I’ve adjusted a bit and use my compost tea. The new growth is starting to look a bit better.
I have been running straight promix with salts for at least 40 yrs. Every time i try mixing it with anything else it doesn't work out, growing in promix is more like a hydro grow than soil trying to treat it like soil doesnt work for me.

Interesting! I made a soil based on promix using a friend's recipe, for my indoor grow last winter and it worked very well. But it had alot of other stuff in it, brown rice hulls and composted chicken manure, lots of perlite, my homemade worm castings. I also used 100% rain water because I was worried about PH issues.

I did mix it with coco for a few yrs with good results using salts, but anytime i mixed in worm casting or teas things go south fast for me. I do mix promix an compost-soil with no problem in my outdoor boxes.

Things are looking better, the new growth is not as twisted and coming out like it should. It looks like I’m a few weeks from flower and I can tell the girls need something because there is more than usual yellowing on bottom leafs. There’s a small amount of pistils showing on the top of some plants. Would you guys recommend a Canna Coco fert or Calmag or voodoo juice? Is it a nitrogen def or??? Thanks

Would repotting with all ffof help or should I stick with where I’m at and add nutes? Which ones if showing def in late veg? Thanks

Recap to whoever is interested. It was definitely a PH problem and not a pest. After some top dressing and oyster shells and a flush everything is going well now. Sprayed for caterpillars preemptively and the biggest young gal is a BOEL Maui Wowie 8 foot+ Thanks again for all the help. I’m staying on em daily.
Checking them every day is the quickest way to being a successful grower, regardless of your approach!

Do you guys use CalMag through the whole grow? What are your thoughts on coconut water?
When I am growing outside directly in the ground I don't add anything to my plants, but if I am in a pot I will top dress a couple of times with Gaia Green general purpose fertilizer, and once or twice as they go into flower with Power Bloom, also from Gaia. I also only use rainwater from my barrels for outside pots. In the ground the soil naturally buffers my hard well water. I don't have any experience with coconut water.

I wish we had enough rainwater to do so here. Shoot, I’d use it for everything! How far into flower do you use Power Bloom and when do you stop? Do you flush?

I just top dress about 2 cups of Power Bloom, once about the start of flowering and once about 4 weeks later. That plant is in a 30 gallon pot filled with home made living soil. I have 4 fifty five gallon barrels that we use to catch rainwater off the house. I never flush a grow. And I use a lot of mulch.PXL_20240718_171234758.jpg
