Reducing LED's power to 50%, but lowering them 50% closer to plants

Still a newb, was wondering having 3x 600w led ligjts, and electricity is expensive where I 'm at.
Can I conserve electricity by havinf them at 50% output and lowering them 50% closer to plants. I am aware that I get less light footprint for plants around the led's, but the ones rigjt below them should be in the same intensity right?

What lights are you using?

If you used a bar light and you scrogged and were real keen on keeping the canopy thin , single layer , you could potentially lower the light to real close and save some power.

But depends on what lights they are .

What area are you covering with each?

The other side of the coin is you would be reducing heat by a considerable amount too and that may not be a good thing depending on your environment

Also to mention it is a big space so no mylar around them, and considering summer is close heat is not the issue

Well I'd say your already under lit at 600w x 25ft.

You could lower them but the footprint isn't great over 5x5 and will get worse the lower it is.

Do you veg on full power or dim?

If they were over 16sft I'd be more happy about it.

I veg with other leds, 150w on 65% output with great results, 600w are for flower, so footprint is lost considerably you say, ok then no-go then I guess, just needed confirm from someone who knows better

I'm running a 430W bar light in a 2x4 space at 50% about 8 inches above my canopy. 750 to 800 ppfd. Plenty of light at that setting and distance.

I would measure the ppfd. If you can keep it where you need to be, you’ll be fine.

Yes measure the ppfd if you can, because it shouldn't be linear like that, if you power down from 100% to 50% it won't mean the intensity is same at 1/2 the height, more like 3/4 the height. In other words, moving to half the distance at same power doesn't double the intensity, it probably 2x2's it, i.e. 4x. So if you half the watts I'd guess somewhere like 3/4 the height would have the same intensity as before.

First of all turning down lights turns down lumens as well your turning your 600 whatts into 300
