Cloning tips?

I plan on using Clonex and cloning in potting soil. Does anyone have tips/ tricks on what controls I should have and realistic expectations? (Im sure 50% are gonna die)

100% success with Rockwool cubes and tap water, no cloning gel. Don't let the cube dry out, don't keep it fully saturated after day 1.

I don't do anything fancy. I literally take a cut and put it in a 2x2 cube. Submerge the whole cube and cut in water for like a minute. Then I place on a plate or prop tray on the floor under the same grow lights that are growing my autos. It's on the floor so it's plenty far from the power of the light. That's all I do.

I use a light soil mix (33% perlite 33% peat 33%soil) cut, smear aloe on it and sprinkle rooting hormone and set in warm corner of veg area.
I use these with and take about 6-8” cuts.

I usually take a clone when I top. The tops clone nicely. Other than that 3 or 4 inches long, try to stay away from woody parts of the plant, soft green tissue is best. Remove any branches on the cut and just keep 2 or 3 fan leaves and the top if it's a lower cut. If it's a top you can keep a Few branches. After a week of just water start giving them a very week feed. Like ⅕ strength vs what you would feed in late veg and start ph adjusting your water.

I agree with @Jjgrow420. Aerocloning is the easiest and fasting way I’ve found to root cuttings.

Ezplug works for me the best, sometimes I see roots within 4-5 days, crazy shit

I dip the plug in distilled water, let it soak up good, squeeze it a little so excess water could leave and put it in the tray, if it's a small clone I poke a nicer hole in the middle of the plug as the original hole is too tight and will bend your stem.
Put under a dome and only spray the dome cover, not the clones, I can't stress this enough, DONT SPRAY THE CLONES !
Don't use clone gels, powder is ok
The gel can cause rot and mold
Put it under cfl or led and remember to spray the dome daily.

I just fill tray with tap water and KLN hormone to keep the very bottom of root riot plugs wet. Refill when water dries below the plugs once or twice the whole time.

The AC infinity dome makes that happen very simply. Worth the $100. The heat mat is very important too. Roots twice as fast.

Clone dome holes shut but the top two, must stay open. I taped a screen to it to ward off ear wigs etc. Thats it! 10-14 days 100% success rate. I only take as needed, no extra clones.

Ive rooted clones from stressed mother too. Aeroclone only worked once, never again after few attempts. Never know, is it water temp? Bacteria? Ugh done with that.

Anything else not work. Then I found the almighty method for me.
