Seed cracking, brown taproot

Hi,

Been running into some issues germinating seeds from a different vendor. The seeds are cracking open just fine in paper towel and then moved to a aero garden where I usually keep them till they sprout a few nodes. However, they are very lackluster in growth and upon further investigation, the tap roots are getting brown.

I've kept the rh in the cupboard at around 60 to 70 %. But it does drop to about 50, when the humidifier goes off at night. But in any case they are in a aero garden in sponges, and the rh meter on the aero itself does not fall below 60. Only the meter at the back of the cupboard.

This has happened to so many seeds now I'm losing it lol. The seeds pop with white taproot then just slow down and get brown. Grateful for any advice.

cant tell much for aero to be honest but apparently something affects them, if many of them behave so, must be something in the air. My guess is to take a few seeds from the same bath and taste them via paper towels to see if their taproots will get brown as well, at the same time perhaps it will not lead those brownies to rot. Quite unusual...if the seed is bad the taproot will, well, rot...but these looks healthy, just the color...although they are kinda small

Yes I'm guessing it has to be the air, can't think of anything else, I even sterilized the sponges in boiling water before this batch. Thanks

switch to rapid rooters, they may look the same , but there not. rockwool cubes also work well
I'm not sure if they're available where I am. Tried looking preliminarily. Was hoping to get to the underlying cause so I can manage myself.

It's not the pH, not the humidity, not the lighting, I'm leaning on air quality. I do smoke cigarettes in that room, where the closet it, just found out about it, could be some tabacco related plant Illness I read up on dutch passion. Other than that I'm clueless.

I swear it's like me diagnosing some computer problem. Follow easy steps and yet something always goes wrong. Appreciate the responses given.Cheers

For the past year I've been ditching the paper towel and just going straight to the Jiffy seed starter from soaking. I've found that the paper towel isn't really necessary. It seems more natural. If the seeds are going to germinate it only stans to reason that that would cause less stress to the plant them where they are going to be

Also, got to agree with getting rid of the domes. They make it like over watering your plant.

Btw, I also use the same Areo Garden to start my seeds. They do put off a little heat and that with the domes could be keeping the sprout in too much heat as well as humidity. If you could check the RH inside the domes they would probably around 80% to 90%.
