Help setting up a drying space

I got to work, trimmed 9 gs and need a smoke break. No wonder its called trim jail haha and its only two oz and so far its weighing out to be what I thought. Struggling to test above 54%rh in bag though so I guess press it right away.

How to stop it? Keeps stalling on me overnight.
If using tap water it could be getting clogged. That's my best guess.
Assuming by no responses as well on another thread that it is not septoria. But will separate those leaves and keep asking or just throw it away or just consume it.

The temps 62-66F and rh 51-58%.
Temps & RH seem good. Should take at least 9-10 days to dry with RH on the 51% side. 60-62% will usually take you at least 14 days. I have a grease monkey that's been hanging for 14 days, and one day in a drying rack. I trimmed enough to fill a quart jar 3/4 and placed an inkbird ibs-th3 in there to keep track of humidity. I will give it til the morning. If the RH is not above 60% the rest will be trimmed promptly.

I wouldn't worry about the leaves.. but don't throw them in with your smoke. Make hash or something with them. Any extraction method would be safer than smoking these leaves I'd guess.
I guess the question remains, how do I rid the grass smell, by curing? Letting it sit out to dry longer?
It's probably not dry. As long as the environment is ideal, just let it dry for another day & check again. Trim off some foliage if any remains.

I finished both plants got 34 gs space cabinet and 31 gs 2x2 both were close to failed grows so I am happy with it. I followed the pinned how to cure method posted. Tests 54rh in bag, dried too fast. The grass smell I guess was just me.

When putting in bag and opening it later to smell it punches you in the face with no grass smell, its just the strain being the strain is my guess.

Just dabbed some rosin from the gg4 auto and blah it tastes bad. Anyone guess why? Is it dust and pollutants? It taste like dryer sheets and dust or so. Hard to say but its gross.

Maybe play with temps and see if other rosin turns out better. Maybe keep weed for just smoking but I havent tried that yet other than a sample nug the other week and it did not taste like this.

Ok I just tried low temp dab and it taste way better. I was doing medium.

ok I just did a high temp dab and it was just as good. Maybe I am just getting used to it. Im zooted. Off home grown. Always get high on your own supply!!

But no seriously. Heres a photo of the blanket fabric made to be a filter, see the white vs the used portion? Where the fan exausts it is a little black if you swipe the wall with your hand, like a fine dust. I worry that the dust is all over the buds.

It was really bad before putting the filter, the wall was visibly black with large particles of dust that built up like a fan versus now, you dont see it until you swipe the wall with your hand and that is after a whole grow cycle.

Update I pressed at higher temps and the rosin tastes much better. I also am not as grossed out some what knowing the bud is clean and just smells/tastes that way and then dabbing it is just more concentrated taste but I dabbed it all day and it was better and better each time I dabbed it.

So a strain and experience of a lesser desireable smell/taste I guess and maybe some dust and drying error but I smoked the flower. The flower was really good and seems clean. Good enough to give away. Glad it yields good rosin, the other doesnt at all. So its a smoking bag.

Hello , can someone explain me if that's a good idea to dry buds in a freezer with 59F to 64F , afaik/read in the past they dont have humidity at all ?!
Also what is the lowest temperature for drying ?

Next time I am hanging and for 2-3 days, rhen start taking buds and jarring them for rh sample, dropping them back onto a screen or tray or somethin until I mostly see 65-70%rh, then trim and jar, open jar daily for 2-4 hrs until it hits 65rh then press.

If the sample is not dry enough the first time I check after 2-3 days, I start checking daily or twice a day.

Im following the how-to pinned in section this time. I dried too long but what is weird is it was only 4 days but the hay smell was gone.

This time I chopped a cola super early to avoid clutter related mold and just messing around with this weed. Its only been 24 hrs, wet to the touch kind of. Inside bag with meter so far reading 62%. The stems already bend like they do when their almost done hanging.

Less than ideal conditions but dont feel like setting everything up to get 60 rh so I have it at 30-35 rh unless I put on a humidifier and fan. I could and should but if its already at 64rh or almost there its like hmm. I dont want to flash cure it and lock in hay smell but just something to mess around with to learn.

Helps working with things you dont care much for, allows you to learn things with out the panic if it were a whole harvest. Welp, at end of typing this it is at 65 rh so I am at the next step, I think just trim and bag and open bag for 2 hrs a day.

See how fast this goes and how hard it is to follow the How To without getting hay smell weed. Got to keep trying. My guess is too warm and dry. But I had what was said to be ok conditions last time, bound to take 9 to 14 days hanging but it was almost too dry by day 4.

Just trying to make notes here dont mind me.

Ok ok… Its working but wow did it dry fast. I sorta wet trimmed to final product and put in bag which read 73 RH but am at that next step where I let it sit outside bag for 12-24 hrs before checking again. Hoping those that say this are right, that its simple, not to overthink it and enjoy the smoke.

I just read so much about curing and some breeders say their product is best after a short cure. Some saying all this and that about how weed should or shouldnt be long cured.

So I should try to learn how to cure in general and that how to is nice. It tells you when you can give it away/consume it and not worry about mold if kept in bag long time.

In theory the hay smell will go away through the cure and that enviorment isnt as important as preserving and working with the moisture. It will just hit the bags faster. That drying and storing are both curing, its when its dead tissue that its not gonna cure any further.

Well this is fun! It would be my first cure and press at maximum RH. In fact it says the cure doesnt really start until 60-65 rh. Its all coming together, at least the how-to and that growers weed growing philosophy. We all have our own. Some is unparalleled.

Edit it weighs 9.5, astonishing but it will lose some more in next day or two but even if its 8gs, thats crazy. Last space cabinet yield in soil was 34gs. This was just to open up a dense canopy. What a lovely welcome back from coco!

Thought I would ask this question here, is there any way to avoid trim jail? Looking at cheaper hand crank trimmers and costly ones. I would rather ask the RIU community than guesstimate reviews what the end result will be. Some work great for some while some say it trashes their bud.

Hand trimming is pretty hard work only to press it into a puck so I may be open to a decent but not 100% trimmed if it can save money or if yall think going all out on a legit trimmer should work. Or if those are just as bad and that I should just continue hand trimming and get faster/better at it.

I love my bowl trimmer, it saves me tons of time! I also like the look of the electric ones Laughing Grass and c2g picked up. Thise look even more time saving, but a bit more costly.

I recommend them, especially if you're just pressing or processing the stuff after

Yea even if it does half the job for me like I saw in reviews, Id love that. I only harvested two oz last time and it was a body acher sitting all stiff and sore. I plan to do what ever it takes to yield a pound every 2.5 months ish and thats a lot of work.

If I end up buying one and it works, it would drastically reduce labor for obvious reasons. The way I press rosin is more time consuming but that part is pure joy. Trimming is just wow, need to alcohol scissors every 5 grams if to not damage buds with scissor hash.

I concur with Rsawr. The bowl trimmer saves a ton of time. In my opinion, it works much better with round nugs vs the big spear shaped colas, but it does just fine. You can always trim more if needing a quick touch up. If you like peer pressure, we can page @Laughing Grass and @curious2garden in here and you will be quickly separated from your moneys!!!!

Wow those are nice! You can only imagine how I felt realizing there is a way haha. I know there will be quirks and hiccups to work around but as a grower who is mothering plants and perpetuating clones, the strains that like the machine can easily be a repeatable thing.

Maybe I can start with the hand machine and work up to a machine but they are like a 100$ and machine just $100 more.

I spent all money on the setup, press and another hobby. So it will have to wait a little. The machines would pay itself off though financially and in physical ways that make this a must have.

I probably will get the full auto machine one, thanks yall I just feel like reviews vs a forum like this is better feed back.
