Examples of GOP Leadership

Who sends the likes of Matt Gaetz, MTG or the rest of the clown caucus to DC who can do no wrong like Trump? Those are the ones who don't care, and it is obvious, those in politics here do seem to care which is why they are here. It is not my opinion, but the consensus of thinking people with hearts that know how to use them. Common sense should tell people who is working for them and who is working against their interests and who wants to provide responsible government. However, some things get in the way of that, and they don't make a lot of sense and often cruelty is the only point with these folks. Often, like dealing with Putin they hold innocent's hostage; it is a hallmark among them. Matt Gaetz doesn't give a fuck if 10 million American kids starve to death, he really doesn't, and you can plainly see it in him, even on TV.

As for Canada we have a pretty integrated economy with America and if they fuck up for no reason at all we feel the effects, so it becomes our business when America can't take care of its own business.

House sends Senate bill to avert government shutdown
The House on Saturday approved a “clean” stopgap funding bill to avert a government shutdown, sending the legislation to the Senate for consideration hours before the midnight funding deadline.

The measure would keep the government funded at current spending levels for 45 days and it includes $16 billion in disaster relief — matching the figure the White House included in a supplemental request. It does not include Ukraine aid or border policy changes.

The chamber cleared the stopgap bill in an overwhelmingly bipartisan 335-91 vote hours after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) rolled out the proposal. One Democrat and 90 Republicans voted against the measure.
The plan marked a stark shift in his posture when it comes to government funding. And it could spell trouble for his Speakership as conservatives heighten their threats to confiscate his gavel.

At the same time, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced Senate Republicans would not allow the upper chamber’s bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) to advance, deferring to the House plan.

That proposal would keep the government funded through Nov. 17 and it includes $5.99 billion in disaster relief and $6.15 billion in Ukraine aid.
McCarthy told members of his conference earlier this week that he would not bring the Senate measure to the floor for a vote after a number of conservatives voiced concern with the inclusion of Ukraine funding and the lack of border security provisions. Support for Ukraine has become a hot-button issue in the House GOP conference.
McCarthy bringing a clean stopgap bill to the floor was a departure from his previous stance on government funding.

The Speaker in recent weeks had been pushing his conference to coalesce around a GOP-crafted stopgap bill that includes border security, a move that was designed to give Republicans greater leverage in negotiations with Senate Democrats and the White House. He had brushed aside the possibility of working with Democrats to avert a shutdown, underscoring the importance of getting border security provisions in any funding measure.
But on Friday, a band of 21 conservatives voted down that GOP stopgap bill, leaving McCarthy with few options to avert a shutdown ahead of the looming deadline. Hours after the failed vote, the Speaker floated a “clean” stopgap bill without Ukraine, following through with that idea Saturday morning.
While the Saturday vote brings the country one step closer to averting a shutdown, it also puts McCarthy at a greater threat of losing his gavel. Hard-line Republicans for weeks had been publicly warning that the Speaker could face a vote on his ouster if he worked with Democrats to fund the government.

“If Kevin McCarthy puts a continuing resolution on the floor, it’s going to be shot, chaser; continuing resolution, motion to vacate,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), one of McCarthy’s foremost adversaries, said earlier this month.
McCarthy, for his part, brushed aside those threats on Saturday.
“If someone wants to remove because I want to be the adult in the room, go ahead and try,” he told reporters.

“But I think this country is too important. And I will stand with our military. I’ll stand with our border agents. I’ll stand with those that have to get their medicine from government as well,” McCarthy added. “I think that’s too important.”

Wonder what is next fore Ukraine?

Ukraine will be ok I figure, but it does nothing for America's foreign policy or the confidence of allies to have a Russian 5th column at the heart of American politics. Trump and the Russians are driving this Ukraine bullshit, their posts on twitter are identical and you can't tell the difference between maga and Russian propaganda. Trump will control 30% of the GOP base no matter what, disqualified, convicted and in prison, it will make no difference. He is the only source of truth and light for millions of Americans and if he says support Russia, they will, no questions asked. America has minority rule, and they are a sizable minority.

If push comes to shove Joe will seize Russian money and give it to the Ukrainians and if it got serious enough, he would declare Russia a state sponsor of terrorism and take a whole lot more Russian money for the Ukrainians. The Ukrainians have European allies too and many have economies larger than Russia's and will see this through to the end, the threat is on their doorstep too.

Looks like Georgia is a bit too purple for the GOP to go completely nuts and they do seem at odds with Trump who will soon be a convict there.

Will double down on the rule of law? Does that means when the verdict is called that Trump will get 2X what the judge states?

I think it means division in the GOP in Georgia and the magats aren't winning there for now. A lot of republican state officials will be witnesses against Trump, it is almost entirely a republican show as far as the prosecution witnesses go, complete with squeal deals, which have just begun.

Actually, under federal sentencing guild lines the kingpin of a criminal conspiracy gets 3X the sentence of the regular participants. Dunno how it works in Georgia, but his sentence should be the highest there too. I figure when the Kraken lady joined cheesehead in the early trial, her contact Scott Hall figured he was gonna take the fall and cut a deal with the goods on the Kraken. He will be just the first to cut a deal and he got a sweet one apparently and knows lots of useful things.

Haley says Trump campaign sent her bird cage after he called her ‘birdbrain’
2024 Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley said on Sunday that the Trump campaign sent a bird cage and bird food to her hotel room, a day after former President Trump called her “birdbrain.”

In a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Haley posted a photo of a bird cage with a large bag of food, with a sign that said, “From: Trump Campaign.”

“After a day of campaigning, this is the message waiting for me at my hotel room… #PrettyPatheticTryAgain YouJustMadeMyCaseForMe,” Haley said in her post.

The post comes as Trump, the frontrunner in the GOP primary campaign, has shifted his focus to target Haley, who served as his ambassador to the United Nations and as the former South Carolina governor.

Haley has risen in the GOP presidential field, aided by her strong performance in both GOP debates.

Trump nicknamed Haley “birdbrain” in a post on Friday, writing of Haley: “’I will never run against our great President,’ she said, ‘he has done an outstanding job.’ To which I responded, ‘How nice of you to say, Nikki,’ knowing full well that her words mean nothing. She even came to Mar-a-Lago with her family, ‘bearing gifts.’ Anyway, Birdbrain doesn’t have the TALENT or TEMPERAMENT to do the job. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
On Friday, Haley responded to the attack in a post on X suggesting it showed her campaign’s momentum.

“Love this. It means we are in 2nd and moving up fast. Bring it!” she said.

I guess if Haley gets elected she will not be giving Trump a pardon?

Steve Schmidt reacts to Matt Gaetz calling for the removal of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. Steve rejects the premise that McCarthy is now the "adult in the room" of MAGA lunatics and says Democrats should do nothing to help either Republican wackjob.

Trump is circling the drain.

The Florida fascist is floundering.

Wasn't that Gaetz creep dead-to-rights as a diddler that took his victim across state lines? Why isn't he locked up?

The Colorado ho has destroyed her career, and with a drag supporting democrat, no less.

When will that melted plastic monstrosity, Marj shoot itself in the foot?

I mean the US is still a mess with no actual solution anywhere in sight, but at least the current bunch of bastards are burning out in a hurry.

the story at the time is that the DA didn’t have enough for a likely win in a jury trial, and decided not to prosecute. I was seriously bummed.
