What's the next best way of cooling down your temps in grow tent ?

I don't have an intake fan extracting fresh air from an open window due to discretion issues and I can not leave the window open because of neighbors what do I do? Lol

A fan will circulate the air but will not cool the air.
An air conditioner will cool and dehumidify the air.
Condition the room, not the tent.
So your saying I can put a portable ac inside the room without having to put the portable ac unit inside the tent? And it will still cool the temps inside the tent?

I just figured out the best setup for my situation but it was some work and sacrifice of cosmetics. Dehuey in room, holes with louver or vent in door, exaust fan in tent pulling air through the door into the room and out to another room or outside which goes through carbon filter that is inside the tent.

It beats anything else but that is my experience. I looked into ac units, youll end up putting the same work in if not more trying to size it to your window or those mini ac units that the best of work by having one duct blowing hot air outside to work better/more efficient.

Any other setup I had heat issues. This works amazing for humidity too. The grow room is actually habitable and the temps and humidity in tents are very stable. This is much cheaper than an ac unit. It equalizes the temp of room to the rest of household. I would do this even if I wasn’t growing because it makes the room way more comfortable.

Is sounds complicated but I'm sure it isn't lol but I think I understand what you're saying but I can't really put a hole in my door and can't really vent out the window period I'm thinking about getting a good ac unit that doesn't need to be vented and even if it ain't perfect anything to help bring down temps is a must .

I just know an ac unit won’t work for me because I would turn it on all the time and it will make the rest of the house colder which if you live with people could be an issue, it was with me. It will up costs and just didnt really work out even if that wasnt an issue, it helped a little.

The holes in door is ugly as heck not going to lie. I would paint them same color as door or close to it or just use a rectangular vent that will make it look more normal. Usually used for closets and such for ventilation. Aside from ugly, it works so well. I learned it from this forum.

Do u have a picture? How did you make a hole in your door? I'm thinking exhaust the hot out with the air conditioner and duct through the door to expel then cool the room with the ac unit

I rather not show pics for privacy reasons, reveals too much detail. In short, look up duct louvers, then look at ones that are rectangular shaped as those would move the most air and look more normal. If they come with screen, remove them. Or look for removable ones or ones without a screen, it will obstruct air flow.

You will need a drill and 6” hole saw. I added a pic of an example, you will need an adapter so it can connect saw to drill. Drill a hole. Be careful, saw will jerk due to inner pieces of solid wood that bind the door together, the frame of the door. Take your time as the jerks can sprain a wrist. Also because drill can over heat, it is a tough job.

I did two 6” holes with a louver which is just for privacy. You can turn them at an angle so you cannot see into the room. A rectangular vent, I thought take door off and jig saw it but door probably too thick for a jig saw. Refer to another wood worker for that.

I would first for most have a conversation with land lord or roommates if they have a say in property changes first of all so you can grow but also because this will look ugly, I had to convince my folks to let me do it. Luckily I tried growing in a 2x2, size of grow matters, you may do fine with central ac with a small grow but I had to argue to turn up ac all the time.

But to the point, I grew but then quit and reminded them that the small room still got too hot without growing so they bought it when I said it would help with and without growing. It does! I have no need to touch the central air and they can have all doors and windows open and my grow still functions the same.

They said hellll noooo at first but said fine and was done and over with and I am very happy. They look at it after and say meh I guess it aint that bad. (Its hiddious!) I would look into basement growing if you can. Should be cooler down there.

And the exaust just goes outside, the window fixed with wood and tape with another hole in it for the duct. That part was easy. You would do this part anyway with an ac unit. So the exaust fan has a carbon filter in it that pulls air through the door and through the tent.

The room if it is small enough will have negative air pressure. Bonus, it will pull fresh oxygen to your plants. Another bonus, with negative air pressure you can harvest and trim in the same room, the carbon filter is covering up the smell in the whole room. You should feel air rushing through the louvers.
