His story is changing, and he is lying about it. It is sinking in that he cost Ukrainian civilian lives and perhaps many others too. The only purpose those ships served was shooting missiles into Ukrainian cities and stopping Ukrainian grain from feeding the world's poorest people. Elon might be responsible for many thousands of deaths through starvation. I'll bet Elon never gave a dime to fight world hunger and maybe someone should hit him up for 10 billion in pocket change over it.

After Bucha, the targeting of civilians and cities and all the war crimes and atrocities, after the repeated invasions of other countries by Russia and the attempted genocide in Ukraine, Elon can't tell the difference between the sides, says a lot about Elon, doesn't it? Elon has absolutely no moral compass as with most narcissists and the line between them and sociopaths is often nonexistent.

He is a pathological liar and bullshit artist.
I've followed the Tesla full self-driving saga for years; as it's tenuously related to my work. He lied about it 7 years ago and has done little more than double-down since, in grand Trumpian style, facts or statistics be damned.

I think his Uncle Sam had a talk with Elon after the Ukraine fiasco and he apparently has sold blocks of access to Uncle Sam and control of services in conflict areas might be among the arrangements. If Elon had a brain, he should be very frightened about now, he is into China for a Tesla battery deal though and must jump to their tune. There was an awful lot of talk in DC and on the media about what to do about Elon and starlink in particular, maybe separate it out from SpaceX and spread the stock around a bit, Elon will make money, not to worry, he just won't have power over it. That might be best for Elon as starlink grows in national security importance for America and allies. Making starlink military access available to allies would be a Helluva incentive to come on side and they must have dependable access, not at the whim of Elon.

You could control a ship in the black sea, much less a drone boat with starlink, there is plenty of bandwidth and very low latency. It can control drone boats and UAVs almost anywhere on the planet and is a very important national security asset for America and its allies. Control of it might end up being essential for Tiawan's and South Korea's defense, it would offer enormous benefits across a spectrum of operations.

Elon is getting like Donald and Vlad he is accumulating people who think the world would be a better place without them and it would solve a lot of problems for a lot of people if they weren't around. Friends come and go, but enemies accumulate.

Republicans deregulated and made regulators toothless, there was a time in America when the federal government would stomp on Elon HARD for this kind of shit. If she's a republican voter, she voted to screw herself and this is but one example, she gets screwed and Elon pockets the cash and pays no taxes worth a fuck on it either. How do the super-rich get that way? The old-fashioned way, by buying the government and then one victim at a time.

America might not be able to control disinformation, but others can and if these companies want to operate globally, they had better toe the line. Elon already cooperates with authoritarian regimes like India and lots of other places they censor the news for the government but has an issue with democracies wanting to control outright lies spread by bots.

Yer fucking right, Elon's days of fucking around with starlink are over as far as national security is concerned, this shit also comes with consequences and security. Starlink is far too valuable a national security asset and its use must be denied adversaries and given to allies for military use as an inducement too, it offers valuable functions and best of all Uncle Sam gets to monitor it all and control it all, including geofencing. If they integrated the phased array antennas into the wings of drones, you could fly down the main street of Moscow at cartop level with a great view in your virtual cockpit and even have the drone crew served with multiple sensors and systems, there would be plenty of bandwidth and a 24ms latency. Likewise, you could control a ship drone, not just a drone boat, or a submarine drone that pops up every now and again to link up with the network. Even remote tanks could be controlled by starlink.

Countries would join an alliance with America just to get access to the system, it would offer serious military advantages, aside from secure routine connectivity that is hard to radio locate or even detect with standard direction-finding methods, so HQs who stay off the radios and phones would be secure.
