As someone who's done the same thing by accident, I can tell you that is not strictly true, as you may have experienced
While this is true, water neutralizes the gas very quickly. If he was only doing it in the portions nessessary to sterilize the rez, the danger is low, but the potential danger is so incredibly high, it's not worth taking any chances.

I definately learned that!
H2o2 is no joke. 80% h2o2 is literally rocket fuel. I find h2o2 helpful for eliminating root pathogens quickly, but always handle with extreme care.

While pool shock is safer, it deserves the same level of respect. Do not let the dust become airborne, and never ever let the package become wet.

I quit using pool shock and just use 1 ml of normal Clorox Disinfecting Bleach 7% per 10 gallons of water without issue. I also learned this will either kill or deter fungus gnats. Keeps reservoirs and lines clean of biofilms or other funk just know it will also kill beneficial bacteria.

Also helps prevent root rot and algae growth.

Thank you! I did read read that a couple weeks ago and again before starting the shock. Just came on here to verify the dosing amounts. If i recall that's the thread that advises 1g per gallon to make the solution. Everything i read online said to use 5ml/g of thay solution for 5ppm of chlorine, which is way less than I was advised to use in this thread. But rkymtnman knows his shit, so I'm glad I asked here.
