and here comes the Paxton trial......he's not doing really good at the moment......

he tried to get everything dismissed, but the senate said "NOPE"

"The Texas Senate kicked off its impeachment trial of suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday with a preliminary series of votes rejecting Paxton’s efforts to dismiss the case pretrial.

The Senate denied Paxton’s first two motions by votes of 24-6 and 22-8."

keep in mind the Senate here it's majority is GOP, the Dems down here just need 9 votes from the GOP to fully impeach.....and with the vote going so far it's not looking good for Pax

George Santos and aide appear to be discussing plea deals with feds
Rep. George Santos and his former campaign aide, both indicted by federal prosecutors, appear to be in plea talks with the government, according to court papers filed Tuesday.

Prosecutors in the Santos case asked the judge overseeing the case to delay a court hearing set for Thursday because “the parties have continued to discuss possible paths forward in this matter.” They added: “The parties wish to have additional time to continue those discussions.”

Santos, a first-term Republican from New York, pleaded not guilty in May to federal charges of wire fraud, money laundering and theft of public funds. Prosecutors accused him of fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits, using campaign contributions to pay down personal debts and purchase designer clothing and lying to the House of Representatives about his financial condition.

Last month, one of Santos’ former campaign aides, Samuel Miele, was also indicted for allegedly impersonating a House leadership aide while soliciting contributions for Santos’ campaign. Miele, who was charged with wire fraud and identity theft, pleaded not guilty.

On Tuesday, however, prosecutors in his case told the court that they and Miele needed to delay a hearing “to accommodate ongoing discovery review and plea negotiations,” adding that “negotiations concerning a potential resolution of this case without the need for a trial are active and ongoing.”
Santos, who is running for reelection, has previously said he doesn’t plan to resign from the House and intends to continue his campaign. “I’m going to fight the witch hunt,” he told reporters in the hours following his arraignment. “I’m going to take care of clearing my name.”

I’m gonna say this as mildly and dispassionately as the situation can possibly warrant:

Kitara is a fucking fucker of fuck.

Now all y’all know I have a special place in my heart (it resembles the basement of Chernobyl) for ol’ Kremlin Kev. But I fear this is an instance to emulate the old woman of Syracuse* and say, better the devil we know.

*The tale was told that under the crushing oppressive rule of the tyrant Dionysius, an old woman went daily to the temple to pray and offer sacrifices that the tyrant might live long. This caught the temple guards’ attention. So one day they ask her: “Everyone else wants our master to drop dead, yet here you are sincerely praying for his health and long life. What’s with that?”

She explained:
“When I was a child, guy A ruled. He made life hard on us. When I was a young woman, guy B took the throne. Things got worse. When I reached my middle age, guy C took over and made guys A and B look like saints.

Now I am old, and Dionysius rules us with an iron fist like nothing we’ve seen yet. It stands to reason that his successor, difficult as it might seem to believe, will find ways to make things even worse again. So I pray that the gods might shower their blessings and a long life upon Dionysius.”

The guards shook their heads and let her be on her way.

  • "We've got a four seat majority and we've got some other people that have family health problems, some that have their own health problems," one member noted on the difficulties of getting bills passed.
And they have Santos going to prison and who knows what else might happen before the end of the term.
