Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Friday the former president's mug shot, taken Thursday while he was being booked into an Atlanta jail, will symbolize his toughness as a fighter and galvanize supporters who believe they have been wronged by the criminal justice system.

"That mug shot yesterday, that is the look of a fighter, ladies and gentlemen," Lara Trump, who is married to the former president's son Eric Trump, told "Eric Bolling The Balance." "That is exactly what Donald Trump is, and that is exactly what he is doing. He is fighting not just for himself because he realizes that this is far bigger than just about him. This is about the future of America.

"This is about the fact that at this point we might as well take the stars and stripes off Old Glory and put a banana tree on there, because this is straight banana republic-type stuff that we've seen happen in this country.

"I think he knows — like a lot of Americans are starting to realize — if this is successful, if the corruption on the left is allowed to happen and allowed to succeed, we do lose this country in so many ways."

Not long after the former president was processed by authorities in Georgia, his campaign started selling merchandise printed with the famous mug shot and "Never Surrender" written underneath. T-shirts and long-sleeve shirts on Trump's campaign website sell for $34 each. A signed 18-by-24-inch poster is $28; coffee mugs are $25 each; and a set of 4-by-4-inch bumper stickers are $12 each.

"I think they had T-shirts out within the hour of the mug shot being [released]," Lara Trump said. "Even people who didn't like Donald Trump, I think now with this mug shot, they see him as a symbol of everything that is wrong in this country.

"What they have done to him they see in themselves, people who feel they have been wronged by this system, just like Donald Trump."

Trump Team Threatens to Retaliate on Merch Knockoffs
Donald Trump's 2024 campaign is threatening to retaliate against knockoff memorabilia and those using the former president's iconic mug shot to make money.

Chris LaCivita, one of Trump's senior advisers, issued the strong warning through his social media X account Thursday night.

"If you are a campaign, PAC [political action committee], scammer and you try raising money off the mugshot of @realDonaldTrump and you have not received prior permission ... we are coming after you," LaCivita assured. "You will not scam donors."

On Trump's official website, supporters can purchase clothes and other items featuring the mug shot and the phrase "Never Surrender," including two-for-one $15 koozies, $34 T-shirts, $25 coffee mugs, and $28 posters.

Meanwhile, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame & Museum said Friday it would enshrine the shot in its latest collection of special edition figures. It is unclear whether the museum consulted Trump's campaign.

"The Trump bobblehead features the former president's unsmiling, scowling mug shot on a base bearing his name," the museum stated, according to The Hill. "Glaring into the camera, Trump's brow is furrowed, his jaw clenched, and his red tied knotted tightly."

3 Ga. Defendants Say They Acted at Trump's Direction
Three Georgia Republicans — including a sitting state senator — said in court filings this week that the actions they took as false electors came at the direction of Donald Trump, then the sitting president, and other federal officials.

The trio — David Shafer, Shawn Still, and Cathleen Latham — are among those charged who allegedly served as fake electors in Georgia. Including Trump, there are 19 defendants in the case brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

Still is a state senator, Shafer is a former state GOP chair and Latham is a local GOP official.

Arguing that they took direction from Trump and his campaign lawyers, the trio seeks to have their cases moved from state court of Fulton County to federal court.

"Mr. Still, as a presidential elector, was also acting at the direction of the incumbent president of the United States. The president's attorneys instructed Mr. Still and the other contingent electors that they had to meet and cast their ballots on Dec. 14, 2020," an attorney for Still argued in his filing on Thursday.

Latham's filing says she was acting "at the direction of the President of the United States."

"Mrs. Latham was furthermore acting to assist the President, and was following the advice of the President's legal counsel for the purpose of preserving the challenge to the election results," read her filing on Friday.

Shafer's filing argued similarly.

All three filings argue that because they were directed by federal officials, ostensibly just to aid in Trump's legal challenges to the Georgia results, that entitles them to immunity from state prosecution under the supremacy clause of the Constitution. Former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows has a hearing on Monday for a similar petition, albeit in a different capacity.

"Now that the filings are coming out, and some of the defendants are feeling the pressure of going through the jail and finding counsel, their divergent interests are starting to show," Georgia State University law professor Anthony Michael Kreis told The Wall Street Journal. "It is becoming clearer that some of their best arguments will mean pointing the fingers at other co-defendants."


Trump is accused of using the false electors — in this case Georgia — as the impetus to pressure his vice president, Mike Pence, into not certifying the election on Jan. 6, 2021. Pence did no such thing.

For his part, Trump flew to Atlanta on Thursday evening to surrender. He was booked in 20 minutes before leaving to return to Bedminster, New Jersey.

Kenneth Chesebro, the attorney who drafted the fake electors memo, likewise pushed for a speedy trial, and is now facing an Oct. 23 trial date.
While a Georgia judge agreed to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s suggested date, he set the October timeline for Chesebro only, despite a suggestion from the prosecutor that she was ready to try all 19 defendants.

Former President Trump opposed Chesebro’s motion, indicating a desire to sever his case from Chesebro if the trial timetable were advanced.
Powell is facing charges on six counts, including conspiracy to commit election fraud, as well as charges related to a voting system breach in Coffee County, Ga.

That will likely mean going for the early trial date with cheese and crackers, there are several interested in an early trial now, the legal costs are staggering for most and they have to leave their families with something when they go to prison, most face financial ruin anyway. Sure Trump's and the dead enders get to watch the case presented, but they will also have a lot of fingers pointed at them and new evidence before they go to trial, new witnesses too. Having most of the people who were in a conspiracy with you plead guilty or are found guilty before your trial is not good either!

If they get a dozen of them to plead or go for an early trial, then that sets the rest up including Trump up for an early trial too, after the new year or in the spring. It will also mean guilty verdicts for the first batch before the new year and that won't look good at all for Trump and his cronies.

This is sure turning out to be interesting with the 14th in play and all, it's a perfect storm for the GOP with Trump going down in a flaming whirlwind at its center! Get popcorn, it's the greatest show on earth as Donald the clown walks the highwire and finally gets shot out of a cannon and then fed to the lions. :lol:

Boy, would that be a show on TV, when they haul Donald into court and put him in jail pretrial! He would freak out as the cuffs went on and the stunded look on his face should be captured by the HD cameras in the court. That would be public domain too and might make a better mug photo! :lol: Donald has only just begun to be provoked and the stress levels are increasing with each court date and trying to wiggle out of accountability.

I don't think the republicans in Georgia will pull the pin on Willis, too many of them want Trump gone and as time goes on the 14th amendment will come into play more. If they did remove her from the case well before the election, she would end up running for governor or AG with Stacy Abrams managing her campaign, she is in an elected office now.

The 14th and when it kicks in will be critical, the republicans are operating in a different reality and could be left high and dry, they must get rid of Trump to stand a chance in the election and getting rid of him at the last moment would be disastrous for them. Another republican candidate stands a chance of beating Biden, even with all the shit that went down, right leaning independents are the biggest group of voters. The democrats need to keep Trump around until they start registering in the states to run for office, if the republican base is stupid enough to nominate him, even if he is in jail on his way to prison and will be disqualified from the ballot anyway.

If a democratic state, disqualifies Trump from the ballot, considering the case they would have, I doubt the SCOTUS would rule against them without setting fire to the US constitution. A red state might do it first though in an attempt to get Trump out of their primaries, if not they could be fucked and end up conceding the election to Biden.

The legal voices calling for the 14th are growing and eventually will include most of the lawyers in the country signing petitions along with bar associations and DOJ alumni. If Trump can get on the ballot and away from being a convicted and imprisoned for life, he will make Houdini look like a piker. His only use at this point is fucking the GOP and he looks set to just that in 24, if they are stupid enough to nominate him and at this point, they appear pretty disconnected from reality, logic and fact free.
