Put my bikes in the storage shed, covered what I needed to cover with tarps. Not expecting it to be quite as bad as they think, but preparing nonetheless
When it comes to tropical systems all bets are off. I've been through 7 typhoons, one of them Typhoon Omar on Guam was no joke, plus two hurricanes in Miss. but thankfully we were gone before Katrina. I'm sure our old house was underwater.

Yeah stay safe everyone!!

I just had a fairly wonderful idea. Setting up my old 4 x 8 tent in my garage to finish 2 outdoor plants. They aren't real tall, but super bushy. I think the 2 of them would fill the tent. I could put them in the front corner of my garage and no one but me would know they are there!! I'll have to get some measurements and make sure they'll fit.

Growing up mostly in S Fla we saw a few hurricanes - my folks owned two houses just outside of Homestead AFB & both were destroyed by Andrew - the eye wall passed directly overhead. They moved!

I wonder based on the side of the mountain you're on. Either way I wish you all the best. My son went surfing this morning said it was great out there. He's in Encinitas. I expect he'll see a lot more of it then either you or I!

Typhoon Omar was almost the same time as Andrew. We had concrete filled cinderblock walls with a concrete flat roof with 3/4" plywood shutters over the windows. I went outside when the eye went over, it was strangely quiet. it took over a week to get power back on, and that was on base.

My brother lived there at the same time - his house took a 10' 2x4 end on through the ridge of his house. Came out the other side & was driven into the trunk of a royal palm tree. That's how we knew how long it was.

My friend has a video of one of the large trash bins doing level flight 6' off the ground up the road in front of their house.
My car got hit in the rear quarter panel with a coconut. Took it in for an estimate then used my foot to push the dent out. It paid for my new stereo system.
Our building had an eddy on one side where a big thick sheet of aluminum from what used to be the radar tower spun around and creased the gutter a couple times before punching a hole with the corner of it next to the door in our building. The water was cascading out of the gutter so we used it to wash our hair with soap from the restroom. My wife asked how I got a shower when I got home.
All the chain link fence next to the flightline got leveled.
