you can use either, preferable over soil get some Jiffy peat moss and expand those and use them, also you can find under the DIY section a way to make a cheal DWC cloner from Walmart

i personally just put them in water with an airstone going to keep air in the water... they usually root in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks

I dip my clones in roottech and put in moist soil with minimal amounts of nutrients from technaflora and I use soil as my medium. Between 2-3 weeks I have a 16oz cup full of roots. I just bought some netcups and neoprene collars and next time i'm going to try dwc cloning. Never used rockwool but the BEST way of cloning will be up 2 you and how it BEST fits your medium or application.

good stuff I built a little DWC im currently at day 4 and there are 1/16 inch roots sticking out, IMO works good.:blsmoke:
