Looks like multiple FPV drone strikes while they waited for the mortars. They said they were gonna build and use 10,000 FPV suicide drones a month and train the pilots to fly them. Instead of traditional forward air controllers for close tactical air support, these guys are attached to the infantry unit to solve problems and quickly react to enemy armor on their front, and a few km behind it, spotted by the commercial drones. Unlike mortars they can hit moving vehicles with great accuracy and stop them while the mortars finish them off and the commercial drones correct fire. They are also a small fraction of the cost of a javelin missile, and it might be cheaper than an RPG while using one of their reload warheads but giving it 10 or 20 times the range with increased accuracy.

Ukraine began to register ships for passage through the Black Sea

I ran across this for bigger RC planes, the Chinese version probably costs a fraction of this, by the shipping container load, which is in Canadian dollars. With an electric blower to turbo charge it, and special fuel additives you could probably get 50% more power out of it for a suicide drone, since it only has to live for two or three hours before crashing into a target. One could setup a factory easily to mass produce simple drones using engines like this that could take a 40 pound HE payload hundreds of miles with the right airframe. They wouldn't cost a lot to inflict a lot of pain on the Russians and cause them to expend plenty of SAMS, just a few thousand bucks each for accurate long-range striking power. With 10 or 20 million bucks in hand and a warehouse in Poland they could turn out dozens a week, the shipping containers come in one end and the attack drones go out the other with their own custom-built airframes made from common materials.
Moscow has been getting hit a lot lately and Ukraine could easily have the capacity to perhaps send hundreds more. We are talking about a nation state that also has powerful allies like Poland, so these meager resources would not be a problem, even private funds could finance it.

You could build these drones for about $200 in materials, the FC, GPS servos and propulsion kit would cost about $100 when bought in bulk. They would make cheap suicide drones using volunteers and kids to assemble them by the hundreds from precut cardboard. 10 pounds of HE causes a lot of damage, and it is a lot more than an FPV drone can carry. I wouldn't pay a grand a piece for the basic drone though when I could get the materials for $200 and the labor to assemble them in mass for free. Software could be customized and loaded onto the FCs at the factory, and they would rubber band the wings on in the field and load the GPS target coordinates from a phone onto the FC. To make it an FPV suicide drone would require less than another $100 for a camera and transmitter. War on the cheap and these guys are not the first to make a cardboard airplane.

Either Russian moral is really bad, or this is a deep fake, which I doubt, this would get him shot in most armies! Maybe he wants a new life in Ukraine, they speak Russian there and Ukrainian isn't much different except for different terms used for somethings, but almost all Ukrainians speak Russian as well as Russians. This is not just treason, but treason on camera, he's dead if he goes back to Russia.

There is no shortage of Russian and magat trolls on twitter and it's hard to tell the difference because they both spout the same shit. There are elements in the American right who are a 5th column for Russia and support totalitarianism at home and abroad.

Agree,100%,we in the West were lead to believe/expect progress similar to Ukraine's Kerson offensive where stunning advances were made in the face of poorly prepared and surprised Russian forces who were overextended to the max. A new intelligence briefing has announced that Russia's use of attack helicopters has allowed Putin's forces to gain an advantage in the long-awaited Ukrainian counteroffensive.
According to the latest UK Ministry of Defence briefing, Russian troops have reinforced its attack helicopter forces, allowing them to gain "a temporary advantage in southern Ukraine, especially with attack helicopters employing longer-range missiles against ground targets."
Per the briefing, new imagery depicts "over 20 extra Russian helicopters deployed to Berdyansk Airport, approximately 100km behind the front line."
Of all the Russian Air Force's attack helicopters, the Ka-52 is perhaps the most widely used. Russia is believed to have a force of 133 as of 2022.
The Ka-52 can be armed with 4,000 pounds of rockets, missiles, and a 30 mm autocannon. Some variants also have a nose-mounted forward-looking infrared camera for targeting.

Ka-52 Alligator ‘Mauls’ Ukrainian Military, Punctures Its Counteroffensive; Kyiv Fights For Fighting Falcons To Break The Impasse
Ukrainian columns were confronted with unanticipated and unpleasant surprises that included well-laid-out minefields, Russian remote mining equipment, and the use of the Kamov Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter.

The F-16 has capable radar and can carry long-range air-to-air missiles (such as AMRAAM) that can effectively leverage the radar’s long detection and tracking range.
Besides long-range weapons, the F-16 has better range and payload capability than UAF MiG-29s, allowing the F-16S to operate from deep within Ukraine, from air bases in West and Central Ukraine. Western air defense systems protect the airspace over West and Central Ukraine well. As a result, Russia will not be able to strike Ukrainian F-16 bases as effectively as it can strike MiG-29 air bases closer to the battlefront.
Equipped with long-range AMRAAM missiles, F-16s would threaten Ka-52 operations. Flying a low-hi-lo profile, Ukrainian Air Force (UAF) F-16s would be able to evade detection by Russian long-range AD systems, zoom up, acquire and attack a Ka-52 from medium altitude with AMRAAM, and then return to base at low altitudes. They could challenge Russian fighters flying air dominance patrols using various other tactics.
To restrict the challenges posed by UAF F-16s, Russia would need to strike F-16 bases deep in Ukraine’s interiors with long-range missiles.
Attacking F-16s parked on the ground at their home base is not viable since the aircraft are widely dispersed and often parked in hardened shelters. Cratering the runway with bombs or missiles is wasteful since such damage is quickly patched using rapid hardening concrete.
Russia will likely use a tactic that it has honed to limit the damage from Storm Shadow attacks by Ukrainian Su-24MR fighter bombers – destroy the facilities used to store the dangerous ammunition carried by aircraft.
Russia has periodically struck Ukrainian air bases to destroy Western-supplied air-to-ground ammunition such as Storm Shadow cruise missiles and HARM anti-radar missiles.
Most recently, on the night of June 26, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a long-range maritime and airborne high-precision strike at foreign-made ammunition sent to Ukraine by Western countries.
“The goal of the strike has been achieved. All the assigned targets have been engaged,” said RuMoD.
On the night of June 23, Russia launched a long-range precision-guided group attack on radio engineering reconnaissance centers and aviation equipment of the AFU close to Kanatovo airfield (Kirovograd region) and Dnepr airfield.
The Kanatove reserve air base is used for Su-24MR operations, and the Dnepr airfield, a forward airbase of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade based at Vasylkiv, Kyiv Oblast, supports MiG-29 operations. Storm Shadow and HARM missile storage facilities were likely targeted.
Following the June 23 attack, RuMoD released a statement saying, “On June 23, a storage of Storm Shadow cruise missiles has been destroyed at a Ukrainian airbase close to Starokonstantinov (Khmelnytskyi region), in response to a strike on a road bridge across the Chongar Strait.”
Interestingly, no Storm Shadow launches have been reported since June 23.
On May 29, 2023, Russia struck the Viysk Airfield near the Khmelnytskyi, the home base of the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade flying Sukhoi Su-24 MR, the launch platform for Storm Shadows. Following the strike, Ukrainian officials acknowledged that five aircraft and fuel & ammunition depots were put out of action.
Ukraine’s Storm Shadow launches had remained subdued for several days following the strike.
Russia has lately been limiting the use of its Kinzhal and Iskander missiles. These missiles can destroy hardened underground targets. Russia uses them to take out ammunition dumps where the Ukrainian Air Force stores Western missiles and bombs.
F-16 operations need specialized dust-proof, climate-regulated maintenance bays with expensive electronic equipment for fault diagnosis and rectification. The availability of such equipment is likely to be limited. Once destroyed, it would take some time to replace such equipment. The RuAF will likely target F-16 maintenance bays besides targeting F-16 missile underground storage facilities.
As things stand, RuAF air dominance over the battlefront and the demonstrated lethality of the Ka-52 helicopter will continue to pose severe challenges to the success of any Ukrainian counter-offensive.

Air power makes a blitzkrieg possible people remember the charging German tanks and forget the Stuka dive bombers. I figure they have their reasons for holding back and the only one I can come up with is they want to break the Russian army and military power along with their economy, so they can't get it back. This takes a longer war to deplete the massive Soviet reserves of equipment and arms they inherited and to wean the Europeans off Russian energy. I think the smart people in Ukraine realize that the only long-term security is to break the Russian army and state, it hurts, but the government can blame it on the allies, which is just fine.
Taking out the rail bridges up to 100 miles inside Russia leading into Ukraine will end this war quickly with a Ukrainian victory. There are only a few rail lines supplying the Russians in Ukraine and they can't operate any more than 50km from their railheads in any force. They would be cut off in Ukraine and contained in their country very quickly with just a dozen cruise missiles or other means to destroy these bridges, most of which are in the middle of nowhere. This leads me to believe that the drawn-out way this war is being fought is to grind down and destroy Russian military power and bring down the regime. It would be too easy for the Ukrainains to win by attacking rail transport inside Russia, rail lines are quick and easy to repair, rail bridges are another matter altogether. The Ukrainians don't have the means to do this, and I don't really think Joe is afraid of Vlad. Once they saw the Ukrainians could not just hold their own, but could win, I think the plan became to use Ukraine to destroy Russian military power. Austin and Blinken said as much at a news conference last year, until Joe told them to STFU about it.
