Oldest plant in preflower, but I need to transplant it from a 3gal to a 5gal asap..need tips

It's in a 3 gallon fabric pot. ..do I knock off some of the dirt at the bottom? Last transplant it all came out in one solid chunk of dirt..I put that in the 3gal and didn't have alotta room for new soil.
Don't wanna fuck this up Any advice is welcome.

You'll get 1000 different answers. I'm a firm believer in the fact you can be a little rough with roots and they will bounce right back. If you want to make some more room for soil, you can cut the bottom 1/3 or so off the root ball. Or you can cut a slice off each side vertically. I prefer to transplant when the dirt is dry so it comes out in one chunk and it's not as muddy to handle. If I'm going to go through the trouble of up potting, I try to make the jump big enough so I don't have to monkey with the rootball too much just because it's less work that way. But the main thing is to get it into the bigger pot, get the new soil and amendments if your adding any into it, water it in really well so all the soil settles. Top off as needed. Leave it alone for a couple days to adjust and reacclimate.

I typically only use worm castings a handful or so at a time when transplanting or brewing worm tea. I'm far from well versed in their use, but 30% sounds wayyyy high. I'm sure you'd also have to add a bunch of extra perlite to compensate for the castings when it comes to drainage.

I usually cut the fabric bag off and then place it into the next bag. I usually fill the new pots bottom with soil that I've mixed my flower nutrients into and have the rest close by to get the plants roots covered as quickly as possible then water in well and add more soil as it settles. Really faded so I hope that makes sense!

Pretty sure some advised - in a different thread - that 3 gallon pots weren't big enough to flower outdoor plants.

Yes , some rooting does continue but once once bloom sets - no more branching .

Why not leave it as is - get it to a proper harvest and concentrate on a larger one when doing another plant.

Excessive “ hovering “ over / unnecessary “ to do “ list can often cause more problems than its worth.
Its a plant , no need to overthink any steps in getting it to finish line.

I have had multiple issues , fought through all to get here. I like to freshen the bottom.. not to hut roots just to open soil to the new soils. Here is this years winner, I went through 2 post then to ground. Roots were out growing pots.

Man I really don't wanna transplant it but others say it's not gonna make it to harvest in a 3 gallon..it was transplanted July 5th from the 2 gallon to a 3 gallon
Honestly I'm just worried bout it getting root bound mid flower

Really ain't trying to cut this AC Infinity bag lmao They are pretty heavy duty I could always get more but that's one thing I like about my 2 gal vivosun bags is the velcro on the side u can just pull down

The only reason it won't make it through flower because of the small bag is because of user error. The issue with the small bag is that it will dry out a lot quicker and you will need to water it more often and add nutes more often because they will be depleted. Only going to a 5 gallon bag from the 3 gallon will get you a few more nutes and it will hold more water for longer. You don't need to worry about being root bound. While it may stunt the plant from growing larger, it's not going to kill the plant as long as it is fed and watered.

Also, you don't have to cut the bag. If it's dry, I roll the edges on the ground and roll the bag between my hands or arms to loosen it up. Grab the plant by the stem, lift up, work the bag off the root ball. That's just how I do it.

I thought you were done with FFOF and threw it away. If you are still using FFOF I wouldn't mix in EWC unless you plan to add more aeration too. And 30% is a lot. FFOF is already a pretty dense soil. I'd use the EWC for topdressing, or teas if you want to make them.

As for transplanting, since you're outside why not just dig a hole and fill it with FFOF and plant it straight in the ground?

I know I said I was done with FFOF and i did throw that infested bag away but I been using it this whole run and kinda sketch on switching up the soil mid run...got a clean bag off amazon came in today and I'm just gonna top dress sounds way easier and like it'll work better ...Can't plant it in the ground cuz I gotta be able to move it..lots of reasons for that..weather, shady neighbors ready to steal my buds, and I may even bring the plants indoors when I get my tent set up

To make things easy you could just transplant the fabric pot straight into the 5 gal pot. The roots will grow through the fabric. I would not recommend bringing in pots from outside.

Yeah nicer bags it's tough to cut. Could you roll it down? I did it once with a nicer bag but I still managed to damage the root ball some.
