My idiot neighbor is building a patio and decided to make a dirt pile on a steep slope into my yard. I warned him this would happen, now my fence is buried and I have silt coming 3 feet into my yard. I warned him several days ago this would happen and now I'm furious. I have to call the city to check my rights before we have a showdown. I don't care if he wants to rot his garage but what a nightmare20230726_094749.jpg20230726_094811.jpg20230726_094806.jpg

Call the department of environmental quality and report the silt not being contained on his property. They have the power to fine them or insist on the installation of proper silt fencing. If he's doing the work under a city or county building permit, the building inspection department that issues the permit can have inspectors check the work site to ensure silt isn't ending up in the waterways as well. If that doesn't work then I'd get a 10 piece drum kit and practice all day on the weekend lol. Hope you get it resolved as quickly as possible.

I sent an email to the building inspector. With pics. He is required to contain the silt. They will make him mitigate the situation or fine him. I told him it wouldn't stay where he put it.

He doesn't strictly speaking need a permit for a patio but changing the landscape gradient does require inspection.

Wow, this is so fucked up!!

My 1st question to the neighbor would be why the f*** he doesn't have someone or himself down there cleaning up his mess, right NOW!!

Damn I am sorry this happened. Yopu could probably hire a landscaper to come make it better than new and make the neighbor pay, but you shouldn;t need to do that. They should just fix it!! Not many people do the right thing however!!

Breathe deep and try not to injure the idiot!!
