How's it going growers. I know there are many ways available to fill this space put what I'm looking to do is to fill it out with about 6 plants 8 if I have to.
I'm wondering is 5 gallon pots big enough to veg them for around 7 maybe 8 weeks until the canopy is about 60% full then flower and still get the same yield as say 12x3 gallon pots veg for 4 weeks?.

Depends if you’ve got the light to cover it properly and want to fill it out. I run 4 plants so I’ve got space to actually get in there. Two 3x3 setups with some space for a dehumidifier and access in an 8x4

Horizontal low stress training can really help you fill out a canopy I have 1 orange bud in a 7gal pot blooming in a 4x4 it dose not fill up the whole 16²ft but there is nowhere near enough room for a second plant the same size.
12 weeks from sprout till 12/12. If you count the first 3 as sapling phase that's 9 in vegs and I could have easily got her to size in 6-7 if I had foresight and wasn't a clumsy unintentionally abusive dumbass

OP is working with a 4 week veg in a 4x8.

I've done a single plant in a 4x8 once (never again), but would do 16 with that short veg. 10 if working with sizeable clones

"You still use those Gavitas? Beautiful plants............

Yup, still using the ones I originally bought. Just had my 3 year anniversary with them in May. Only thing that changed is you now you can buy them at $650 each- I paid almost $1300 a piece. They are still kickin it- 2 grows back I got 116 oz out of the 4 X 8 space with Ethos "Thug Roze". Last crop I defoliated at week 6 too much and stunted them all a bit. Not sure what I was thinking, I had a brain fart. Only got 89 oz. But averaging 104 oz per crop for 11 grows now. Surely there's better LED's out there now, 3 years later, but for me, the light spread is a game changer and these are tough as nails. I've bumped them, some very hard, for years now, and every single diode still works.

WTF! 116oz!!! I have some questions man, if you don't mind.
What gavita lights are they?
How many plants?
Veg time?
Training method?
What Medium?
I'm in that space but haven't even hit 36 yet, hitting just half the number you do would be amazing. I'm using this space only a couple of grows now so I'm getting there in terms of climate. I'm using the lumatek Zeus pro 600w on one side and migro 420w on the other. I want to upgrade the migro asap so maybe I'll grab one of your lights. I should definitely start hitting bigger numbers then. The migro side is always smaller

“There's no way”.......

Of course there is, just because you can’t hit those numbers doesn’t mean others can’t. What is that, around 2.5 gpw? Many have gone higher. Thug Rose, is one of the highest producers out there.

Here’s the thread........

I’ve been getting high yield for over 3 years now, using the Gavita Pro 1700’s- this one just happens to be my heaviest. Most of my LED grows are documented over at THCFarmer. Believe it or not though, I could care less. But long time followers know better.

You are looking at 1/2 the room in the pic, that 4 x 4. There is another 4x4 space in the same room. Each space is under 1 Gavita.

12 plants in each 4 x 4 space, so 24 plants total.
Veg time between 4-5 weeks, read the thread for exact timing.
No training, just topping and lots of defoliation and lolipopping.
Medium is Promix.

Here’s one of my more popular grows, with over 65k views.

There plenty of others there if you search me out.

Thug Roze I mentioned..............you're looking at 58 oz out of this side of the room at near harvest, 12 plants in a 4 x 4 space under 1 Gavita.

Nice! I ran across your thread the other day. I'm upgrading all my my tents and will definitely put 2 in my 4x8. Will still cost me a grand each with shipping, but your journal was inspiring

So you know, the led’s are 3 years old now and I’m sure there’s newer and better on the market. Even Gavita has a more powerful led now, but double the price. My original plan was to replace them by now but I continue to get over 100 oz on most of my grows. Gavita doesn’t push their diodes like many company’s, so they last longer. That why they use over 3300 of them in each light, so the driver doesn’t have to push and wear them out early from the heat.

And the gpw calculation-

118 oz x 28 grams per oz = 3248

Each Gavita is 645 watts, so 1290 total

3248/ 1290 = 2.52 gpw

Not a ridiculously high number, I see people at 2.7 or 2.8 gpw quite a bit. People that say my numbers are not possible don’t have a clue.

I was deleted out of the riu journal you're talking about. Then you and your boys apparently filled up pages in mine. One guy ended up getting banned. I missed the whole thing.
