Seed Germination Method Experiment

Which Seedlings Will Sprout First?

  • 1. Wet Paper Towel Until Root Popped (About 55 hours)

  • 2. Soaked in Water for 24 Hours (ILGM recommend - Both seeds sank)

  • 3. Sowed Directly into Moist FFOF

OK everybody, any educated guesses?

On May 22 I bought a pack of 10 Humboldt Seed Company feminized "The Bling" strain seeds. At 7:00am on May 23 I sowed two seeds, one 1/4" deep and one 1/2" in deep, into FFOF and thoroughly wet the surface with a water spray bottle. I've kept them moist diligently since.

Just before sowing those in soil I put two seeds into a glass of room temp water and put it in a dark cabinet for 24 hours. I sowed those two in FFOF at 7am on May 24th at 1/4" and 1/2" as well.

The 5th and 6th seeds I put in a wet paper towel in the same warm dark cabinet. It's may 25th and a couple hours ago I saw that one seed had popped a little root, so I just sowed those in FFOF at 1/4" and 1/2" as well.

What order will they sprout?

the paper towels ones already won no? I would expect them to be first as they were already popped

but to be fair, I don't think these are the more common methods but rather a version of them

isn't it normally, straight to soil/seed starter, soak in water until you see tap roots or in paper towel until they pop, then into soil?

Not really scientific if you are just determining germination rate
But it is, because I'm just bored right now and germination is all I'm interested in ;) Although, I will take your advice and keep note of which does best through flower.

6 seeds germinating, but I'm only keeping 3. A week after they sprout I pick the strongest one in each pot and murder the other...Considering they all sprout.
