I was just going to post something about this.
Gordon Lightfoot was one of the great story tellers of our time. About 15 years ago I was lucky enough to see the Tragically Hip perform at Massey Hall. At one point in the concert Gord Downey, another great story teller, paid tribute to Lightfoot by welcoming everyone to Massey Hall, “the place Gordon Lightfoot built”.
Rest in peace both Gords.

I'm not sure if what they are doing is even legal. We only sell groceries to US citizens will be next, xenophobia run amuck. The team owners should be barred from Canada the next time they want to go to a leafs game in TO, which could be soon.WTF? More fucked up stupidity from floridiots....

During the regular season they would be less than half capacity for home games if not for Canadians. I sincerely hope snowbirds boycott and let the franchise fold.
In the meantime, go Leafs!

Personally I wouldn't care one iota less if TV sports just disappeared overnight. Such a waste of money that could eliminate poverty and homelessness if directed to things that really matter to our societies. Paying fully grown men millions of dollars a year to slap a puck or throw/kick a ball around to entertain the mindless masses is such a waste.
Our current premier who railed about how much money Edmonton spent building their new arena and entertainment district using mostly outside financing mainly from the teams that would benefit and private interests is now willing to blow 1.2 billion of the taxpayers money to do the same in Calgary. Also leaving the taxpayer on the hook for cost overruns and you know that there will be plenty of that.
The ultimate in vote buying if I've ever seen it.

I do not mind the playing of sports. But I think having 10,000's of people drive to a stadium is a waste of energy and a detriment to the world.
