They actually close the streets down in NYC for this event, with 32,000 bicycles from all over the world...Can you imagine?

Hoping to paint today....Ugh. I still have to move stuff out, sand my repairs, cleanup, and get into the paint by lunchtime I hope. Gonna be a long day!

WELL, I guess I should have expected it with all the rain we have had, fog. There is a little bit of a breeze so hopefully it will burn off soon. I'd guess visibility is about 1/4 mile. 40 degrees right now so I'm glad I have my blanket.

I like seeing fog on the water. My dad has a lake house and it's nice to have an early morning coffee while watching the fog burn off.

I HATE driving in it. It was so foggy on base one time I had to look for where the line on the side of the road ended to figure out where to turn. Had to count the roads to get the right one.

Of COURSE Lowes has paint on sale today....after i paid $60 for a gallon.

best part, I bought the wrong sheen...i got semi gloss....I hate semi gloss, unless your walls are perfect. I always buy satin...Brain fart i guess!

Decisions, decisions...Go back and get another gallon, or wing it and use this shiny crap...

I could write multiple diatribes about the hell of Lowes, like the online order of a $3000 interest free floor deal that failed because they couldn't give me anything resembling a commitment on if they'd ever get the stair nose back in stock. Cancelled the order, lost the chance at interest free for 5 years, the stair nose was back in stock two weeks later.

Then there's the drama of the Floor we actually got. Which is at least a 2 paragraph rant. So I'll just leave you with this. Lowes is probably 20-30% on why I'm behind on everything. They're not the only blame, but losing that first floor deal set us back 4 months.

Also don't EVER let soil from Lowes anywhere near your grow, I couldn't count the number of bugs I found in a plant that the wife brought home from Lowes a few years back which she potted with their soil. I looked at it crooked, got my loupe and said, "Hell NO!" Drop kicked that thing into the back yard in less than 20 minutes.

We call Lowes the necessary evil. Twenty years ago we should have established credit with Home Despot instead.

Home depot gives me the same Vet discount plus it seems like when we need a larger item (appliance etc...) lowes is out but they're not.
A no brainer for me.

Speaking of not going to Lowes. In trying to figure out how I'm going to reconfigure my music studio for the new computer, I decided I'd try my hand at some basic woodworking, before I tackle some of the bigger tasks in the house. (The 15 foot top cap for a pony wall.)

So I went to a real lumber yard and scored a really pretty piece of Black Limba. They ran it through the planer and jointer.



I'm going to shape it to fit my 2-tier piano stand to fit the lower tier to shelve the computer and mixing gear, putting the piano keys on the top tier.
Finishing it in its natural color with some Rubio Monocoat after shaping, routing and sanding.
